Well after many years of me fighting the Jack Johnson craze, as I thought his music was that "adult contemp" like coldplay and john mayer that is just crap, I finally purchased a cd and I have to say it is addictive and good. Not what I expected at all.

Anyone else a fan out there?

At least he isn't James Blunt.

Blunt rhymes with...

Awful, awful, lightweight, bland, throwaway pop music for people who don't like music. Dull, dull, dull

you need to re-enlist, Ed. You've lost the discipline; become weak.

Jack Johnson is indeed a cnut of the highest Coldshiteplay standard.

Either throw the CD on a fire or resign your NOOL membership

Jack Johnson was a professional surfer that made a couple surf movies put to his own music. People liked his music so he released a cd...he later did the soundtrack to the Curious George movie.

But Legge, you're probably right, I've gotten to be an ol' softie.....but the stuff is much better than coldplay crap....the singles didn't sell me (actually Ihate most of them), but the cd is pretty good.....

....ok I'll go sit in the corner now.

Every single surf musician after Beach Boys sounds naturally crap to me. But Jack Johnson would be crap even if he invented the genre his own.

Mr Johnson is without doubt a stool of the highest order, musically.

However, I do remember him doing one of his songs just with an acoustic guitar at the Brit Awards a couple of years back, and i didnt feel the need to switch over.

he's easy-listening CRAP.

All those that are calling it crap, have you listened to one of his cds all the way through? I felt similar about him until I listened to a cd....

I tried to once, but the CDR is now currently frightening off birds in the garden, together with the Killers new album.

I'm with Edel on this one, actually. Some of his music makes a good soundtrack for any summer afternoon [or any afternoon for that matter], hanging out with the gang at the beach or the pool or even at the front porch.

[and for the record, I actually like Coldplay too. 'parachutes' and 'rush of blood' are faves. now fuck off! :ignore:]

According to wikipedia, his genre is "surf music." Just because, he's a surfer, it bacame surf music.

For me, it's just typical acoustic. My typical music to play if I can't sleep.

Indeed!
