I've just been setting up me old Sony seperates earlier on in the new room at home, trying to keep the bambinos off the vinyl, and I've got some classics comin out me ears man!!!!!!!

Obviously the JD/NO but also Funkie Worm, NWA, Echo, Fall ($500 Bottle o Wine, Hey Student (ha, ha)), TheThe, Smiths, Frankie Knuckles mixes of Jack yer Body!(oh the Hac(sigh)), Parliament/F'Dellic, we can go on, but playing the old Frankie Goes T'Ollywood classics from the early eighties has just got everyone in da house rockin'.

What's the general consensous of opinion on those groovy scousers?

Oh, and don't it make you feel great when yer 5 and 2 year olds look on in amazment when you start playing your old records?

My 2 1/2 year son Hal thinks its so funny when I put on Ceremony 12" and start dancing like a nutter! Ive already got him into The Who with Keith moon drumming, but its going to be a another education lesson for him to appreciate Steve & Hooky !

Loved 'em, until that second album anyway.....YEEEEUK!!!

They were my first gig, in the King's Hall in Belfast.

"oh FGTH mime doncha know" DID THEY FUCK!

It's weird why Horn replaced them with the Fairlight in the studio, when they could all play like fuck, particularly Mark O'Toole, as anyone who's heard the original Two Tribes will know (if you haven't.....you know the little happy xylophone type thing playing in the background while Holly sings "tell the world that you're winning......."...THAT was originally a bassline!)

Just 'llegally obtained some digital condensed media to relive/relieve the FrankieGTH experience, who needs eyeTunes... "Two Tribes" has not weathered the years well... "Relax" has that cool clapping beat and dorky synth noises, might as well be on my iPod

I think it's "funny" how when I was a kid like in 1979 some song 8 or 12 years old seemed to me to be so ancient, so far in the past. Now to me a track from 25 years ago doesn't seem that ancient in perspective. But for a kid in 2007 music from before the year 1995 is totally ancient. All perspective...

Horn was a master. But FGTH were great without him anyway, they would however have turned our VERY different.....sort of like a Brit Chilli Peppers (with the leatherpets still in the frame too).

Few years ago I bought an FGTH mix CD.....the originals PISSED on the modern mixes....and I tell you I'd NEVER have thought a Linndrum would out-wallop a 909, but there it was.....Two Tribes Carnage POUNDED the modern ones to dust. There WAS a nice version of Welcome..... though.

And why, pray tell dear fellow, might that be?

There have been 2 great labels of love in my life.... ZTT and Factory, I was lead to the former through FGTH, then got really bored of them, but I still listen to Art of Noise and Propaganda rather a lot.

Don't care much about Frankie - do like Funkadelic, especially "Maggot Brain" - a brilliant record.

And N.W.A.'s "Dope Man" kicks ass.

Spin the black circle! :thumb:
