It's officially out now (the download) - your thoughts?

Personally (after one listen) I think it's better than "Hail To The Thief" - more even. :music:

Fidelity: not so good (160 Kbps).

Mind you, the sound of a cat farting would be better than Hail To The Thief, which is probably the biggest disappointment I can remember musically in the last few years. This new album ain't great, but like most of their stuff it will probably grow on me.

I thought Hail To The Thief had a lot of good stuff on it. From There There onwards its very good.

I agree, only IMO it could've done with a trim - it's too long. 3 or 4 songs from the first half would've been decent B-sides ("The Gloaming", "Backdrifts" etc.).

Some really good songs on the new one - it's more atmospheric and modest. And not too long.

Whats happening with the download. I've bought it, but where do i download it from? InRainbows.com is the same as it was last week.

I've got the one that was leaked, but its not the same tracklisting by the look of things.

I've only just stumbled across this info - seems like if I'm not on NOOL fo a while I lose touch with everything going on in the world... :eek3: Will probably download this later... Although I have liked every Radiohead album progessively less since The Bends, there have been enough decent moments (even on HTTT) to make them a band worth perservering with... Only thing is how much to pay? If I go low to avoid being disappointed I run the risk of paying too little if I actually really like it... An interesting concept but I've no idea how much an album is actually worth... :shrug: Maybe I should just download it illegally... :evil4:

Hail to the Theif is the only Radiohead album I like from start to finish. :eek3: Rest of their stuff is too hit and miss for my liking. I'll give this one a miss.

I just nicked it off someone else. When I heard it on XFM yesterday I thougjht it was shite, but second and third play, its a grower.

Once I actually got past the checkout bit, superfast - just about to have a first listen... I'm prepared to be underwhelmed as nothing they've done aside from The Bends and Paranoid Android has blown me away first listen, but aside from Pablo Honey, I've grown to like most things they've done (took ages to work out whether Kid A was utter genius or absolute shite)...

I reckon the second disc that comes with the discbox in December can be regarded as the 'B-sides' collection - as there will be no singles released from this album...... or will there? :shrug:

And will the tracklisting of the traditional 2008 release be the same as the current downloadable one? :confused2:

Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised after a couple of listens, much more immediate than anything since OK Computer but plenty of depth and some great guitar... Although having heard such great things about Videotape, not the strongest finish...

Lost track of em after OK Computer.The Bends was one of my favourite albums of the 90s .OK Computer got some heavy rotation too.Never heard much of Kid A or the subsequent albums.I'll stick Fake Plastic Trees on now.Ain't listened to it in yonks

This album is very, very good.

It's the perfect blend of the weird stuff like Kid A and the more normal earlier stuff.

Good work lads and I love the way they've released it.

Shame on me!

But if I like it, I'll buy the box.

Paying full price for mp3s just doesn't sound right to me. Would you pay the big price for a 2nd generation tape when you can guy the first one ?

Mp3s are compressed.. bring mess lossless, then I'll pay.

cheapskate! At least I put a fiver across, which seems fair enough to me. It's all I would have paid for it in the bargain bin in a couple of years time anyway.

i downloaded it today. glad i didn't pay a thing for it. a few average songs but nothing great. not a thing that caught my ears. their last really good album was Kid A but everything since then has been mediocre.
