And plasma has poblems with power consumption and the asociated component failures. Don't see too many plasma PC monitors around, which is odd, unless they struggle to get better than HD TV's rather blocky resolution.
It amuses me that people rave about HD, and then buy 14 foot screens on wich even HD's pixels are millimetres on a side, making it as blocky or worse than standard tv-res on a conventionally proportioned screen.
With either Plasma or LCD, you get what you pay for. My 22" widescreen monitor was sub 200 knicker, and it's FINE. BUT I could easily have spent 6-800 on the same size and res, and for that I would get better viewing angle, better contrast and most importantly a faster response time, making the afterimage thing go away.
One thing that needs fixed on flat panels is that they only do one resolution. all others are faked/emulated within that master resolution. The result is that anything running at less than max-res never looks quite right. My bro has far less aliasing on his CRT compared to my LCD on MS trainsim for instance, despite my card doing SO much more antialiasing work....and the only reason is that you must only use "microsoft approved" resolutions, none of which match my monitor's max of 1650x1080 or whatever.
