Nuclear power.
A great thing (if done right). Any hydrocarbon based power plant, oil, coal, gas, whatever pollutes constantly by the act of running. While I do not buy into the global warming lunacy, it's still clear that less hydrocarbon exhuast is likely to be a Good Thing. Regardless of that, the shit's gonna run out.
Nuclear plants during normal operation do NOT pollute. In fact they REDUCE,, yes R E D U C E the amount of radioactivity on the planet....where do you think the power comes from???? Nasty radioactive Uranium goes in, and a more stable (though hardly fun to play with still), less radioactive Uranium comes out (238 goes in, 236 comes out, or something simillar).
What about Plutonium? Not a byproduct, made on purpose by warmongering cunts with no soul, it's a VERY nasty substance, and they like it because it makes FAR better bombs than uranium (smaller critical mass, and less precise chemical implosion required to cause chain reaction).
What about accidents? Only two of note in 50 years. One, 3 mile island, was a genuine accident which could have happened at any time with that sort of reactor. There were no casualties. Some people were dosed with about the same level a trip to the Xray dept. would get you. The other, Chernobyl killed a bunch of people. fucked a lot more people up, and made sheep glow in the dark[1]. Ahhhhh. See it IS awful and dangerous....well...yes, BUT, even taking the year of the accident, 1986, how many people died in coal mines, oil faciilities, onboard tankers. How much land was poisoned with runoff, how many miles of coastline were clogged with oil? Really, you see, you cannot hold the awfulness of Chernobyl up and say how bad THIS way of making electricity is, unless you consider how bad OTHER ways are. Also, and far more importantly. It was no mere accident. The plant engineers were under orders from Moscow to test ways of raising output, or reactor efficiency, or both, and this required taking several key safety systems offline (many were not even designed to have an "off" switch, so we're into lash-up engineering before we even start). When the reactor got away from them during the test, the only main safety system still operational (and admittedly the most important) was the graphite moderators....big pillars of graphite lowered into place between the fuel rods to absorb the radiation and thereby prevent chain reaction. BUT the twatrigged reactor had run away SO badly and gotten so hot that the moderators burned up and the reactor melted it's assembly, crumpled up in a big ball and went as wild as any reactor ever could. The heat metled and burned everything in the pressure vessel which duly went POP purely because there was so much pressure from all the vapourised metal and concrete and graphite. There was no Nuclear explosion.
Let me say that again. There was no nuclear explosion. Reactors, and PLEASE understand this, do not, and CAN not do the same thing as a bomb. An atomic bomb requires that you force a critical mass of radioactive metal from two halves (or various other configurations), into one, highly compressed lump, which pissed it off immensely, and the chain reaction happens at an incredible speed. This takes a big fucker of a conventional bomb, with shaped charges and all sorts of other boffin shit, to achive (if a nuke didn't chain react, the conventional explosion would still fuck up a hell of an area). Meanwhile, in a reactor, you bring some rods filled with uranium pelets, near some other rods the same, and there is a very gentle chain reaction[2], the one cannot become the other.
Two other things.
Radiation: New Order produce radiation. Radiation is heat, light, sound,you name it. So never let the word upset you. Particulate radiation from radioactive substances, is what is called "ionizing radiation", it can knock bits out of non-radioactive atoms. It's why it can cause cancer, it can knock bits out of DNA, making the "code" invalid. However, it is also the sole agent of evolution. I say again, you would not be hear if not for radiation, from the sun, from the stars, and from the Earth, it is radiation that causes mutation, and without mutation, there is NO mechanism through which natural selection can operate, and therefor no evolution, just amino acid slime forever. Again though, reactors decrease the total amount on the planet so they are good.
Waste. Bury it. What IS the fucking problem? came from the ground, put it back there. And if you want to be REALLY enviromental-case about it.....grind it up and spread it out in the place it was mined. If you dig a ton of uranium up in some location, a ton of waste goes back, spread out so it's at the same concentration as the original, and voila....you got a bunch of electricity AND made the place less radioactive.
I think that just about covers it.

[1] Anyone else find it curious that the sheep in the UK most affected by "Chernobyl" were next door to Windscale? (Selafield as they call it now, is not a power plant but a reprocessing plant, it's meant to make spent fuel usable again...see....recycling too 
but really it makes plutonium for bombs mainly.....it's not got the best safety record, but that's only cos it's run by the sorts of folks who ran British Leyland)
[2] Radioactive materials spit particles out, essentially each atom has too many to be stable and every now and then an atom gives up and chucks out the offending extra particle. This happens naturally over time. However, when there are large amounts of such material, one atom goes off, and it's ejected particle batters into another atom, and that knock, makes it go off too. Each time an atom "decays" like this, a little enerygy, in the form of heat and a little light, is released....long story, I'll leave it for now....but that's what E=MC^2 is all about!!! that heat is what we use to make leccy or slaughter Japanese civilians.
