Anyone got Sky+?

Is it any good?

I'm thinking about getting it now they don't charge £10 a month for it... :\ohwell:

Was thinking bout getting it misel,hope they ironed out the problems they had with the + box (was on watchdog a while back). I've got a Doovde recorder but dont know how to work it,in fact it cost £800 when they came out and i only used it once!

We got it recently sort of by accident (had internet with them, then the missus said we had to get a landline and it was £25 to have it installed or free if we had free tv - no brainer really) and it's superb. Catch up tv is great.

Then again, those that have had problems with Virgin (and certainly with it's predecessors) seem to have real problems, customer service is supposed to be dreadful, although apparently improving.

Personally I thought it worth a punt as it's cheaper and nice to just get one bill

Ive never had a problem with Virgin media,

BB,TV and landline are alll fine,and anytime ive had to call them,its been sorted right away

I've heard nothing but bad things about Virgin.

Freeview is so good now, I can't think of why I should pay for anything.

Tenner a month for internet so I can meither you lot is all I need to pay.

sky+ is the greatest invention in the history of the world

On the downside the onboard HD is kinda titchy. On the upside, you can do a quick upgrade yourself, to any size of drive you can get your paws on. Again on the downside, when you cease to subscribe, or sky is having authentication diffs, you cannot watch what you have recorded.

I just feed my sky box into my PC. Since the skybox powers on when you set a show to "autoview" and since the PC side of it is as hard as "at 2100 vcr" "at 2200 kill vcr", it suits me fine.

My bro has an all singing digital tv card and can dump mpeg transport streams straight to disc, which give even better quality than sky+ (which uses some fast but light compession on what it stores I believe)

They're fitting my Sky+ box in the morning :)

RE: Virgin - I had Telewest for my internet connection and had no problems, but when Virgin took them over it would simply not work for at least a week every month and when it did work it was so slow it was unusable. They tried to charge me £70 to sort it out at which point I told them to forget it and switched to BT! Had no problems with them at all and that homehub is great for going on the net using the laptop anywhere in the house (or garden!).
