Just wondering, if any of you like rail transport modelling? I was obcessed with German train scale models and buildings for 5 years and then I abandoned that hobby. But now it again became appealling to me, even though right now I have nothing, not even a track.

Only the virtual sort. MSTS and Trainz.

cheaper and easier than a trainset that's for sure.

Ooooohh... give me a double 'O' guage, a cup of tea, a guard's whistle and I'm happy as a pig in siht* Not so keen on the 'N' guage, even though it takes up less room.

I still have all my HO Marklin locomotives, rolling stick and track. I just haven't set it up and I don't think I will anytime soon. In Germania we had it all permanently set up with scale houses and cars.

What did you have Ian, Markiln Fleischmann or Trix?

We had PIKO - it was a DDR company. It was very popular but expensive in the former SU. They produced H0 & TT massstabs. As for buildings (of course, they were sold detached), they were made by VERO, also from DDR (now, I think, it's taken by Auhagen GmbH). Top quality those houses were! That's why all imagery I have about model trains and model landscaping is pure Germanic.

I used to assemble spaceship models (not fictional).

In Germany we had the divide of Marklin and Trix vs Fleischmann and all the others. The first two have three power pickups, the rails and one in the middle and the others just had the two rails. That difference made or broke friendships as trains can only run on one kind of track.
