Bolton Council are getting on my t*@$

A couple of months ago I received a nasty letter from them threatening me for having the audacity to leave my bin in the back street all week (I was away from home for a few days). I was told in no uncertain terms that my bin should be placed in the back street every Monday morning, before 8.00 am (Ha! There’s only one 8 in the day for me on a Monday and it isn’t in the a.m.) and I must bring my bin in as soon as I arrive home the same night.

They then threatened me with legal action should I do this again. Bear in mind that this is the first time I didn’t comply and I was on my holidays!!

They then had a go at me for not recycling. This I really took offence at. Despite several phone calls requesting a paper recycling bag and a jar/bottle bin – they failed to supply me with them. The only reason they couldn’t ‘see’ me recycling was because I chose to put everything in bags, in my kitchen and dispose of them myself at the supermarket in my own time.

Bloody little Hitlers.

Then, this morning…

I received a letter informing me that I had better contact them immediately as they had been informed that a man named Peter (I won’t print his surname) had moved out of my property last month and that I had been dishonestly claiming my 25% discount on Council Tax. I have lived alone for nearly 2 years and don’t know anybody named Peter!!!

Have you checked with the neighbours to see if they did'nt all get the same letter,Jem?

Cos we did about a fortnight ago..The whole road got them. A strongly worded letter,telling me when I can take the bins out,and not before.. Fire risk,firemen call out stats,related to scally firebugs setting bins alight were in the letter...with a threat of prosecution if I left the bin out...

PS: start making noises about finding out where the other 25% went since you paid full whack, that shoudl rattle them a little.

Got a letter from my council last week informing me that as part of their renewal scheme for this area (has to be said , not the poshest part of town!) i could quite possibly qualify for them to pay part if not all of any work i need doing to my house. RESULT :D

I have'nt even bothered claiming tax credits for the last two years because they made it such a chew on,I just fucked them off.

Losing about 40 quid a month by not claiming,so by rights they owe me fuckin money for 2 years..Now this bill.Cunts underpaid me in the first place,and now are punishing me for NOT claiming!

Now,Lawyers...Nah,that's a long one!

Mate of mine kept getting those, different numbers each time, varying from 75p to over £3K. Then in the midst of them he got one saying they owed HIM money. He phoned them and the guy said...."ignore ALL our letters, they're all nonsense". so don't queue up to pay 'em boaty.

Oops, just got in and have a letter from the council saying I could qualify for free loft/cavity insulation. I'll rant more often if it gets me results like that. Luckily I bit my tongue when I rang the Council today to complain, it seems they've got the address wrong, my name but it should have gone to the East side of the street and not the West and they couldn't apologise enough

We recycle almost bloody everything. Medway Council give you an allocation of 26 recycling bags, one per fortnight, for the whole year. We used our 26 in the first 8 weeks of the year, so requested some more. The Council not only told us to fuck off but accused us of wasting their time and resources by not recycling properly, and told us we would have to pay them some stupid fee to be allowed to continue recycling! A rather severe letter from the government department responsible for recycling etc (for whom my wife happens to work...) soon made them buck their ideas up, they didn't quite manage to apologise but have at least agreed to make extra bags available free of charge to anyone who wants them and who is prepared to call in at the local library. Muppets.

And another thing.....how come the Govt. paranoia generators tell us that our bins are raided for every scrap of personal info, so people can pretend to be us (PERRRLEASE, call it identification theft and stop scaring people), THEN send a note round saying "we do not accept shredded paper in the recyc bin"

To my mind it proves it's not being recycled at all, as the first staged of recycling is........SHREDDING.....nope they just want your credit card number.

It's all balls anyway, with the possible exception of plastic bottles (which make fleeces), it cost more in money and resources to recycle....fucking retarded enviromonkeys doing really well there.

yeah alternate weeks here too but always lose track of which is due so i put both out figuring they'll take one of them but they don't take either.So in the wheely bin they all go!!

Down the local fishmonger then for a bag of groundbait and some dogfood from the local butcher too. Best wait till June though ;)

Tip:herring, after about 2 weeks turn into a kind of black tar that clings to everything (especially my bleedin dog!!!!!!) and stinks like nothing else on Earth. Eels are also indescribably niffy.

We now have 4 wheelie bins!

Black for general shit Green 4 garden waste and shredded paper (doc) Brown for glass and cans blue for newspapers etc.

Black every two weeks (in the summer was constantlt FULL of maggots) The others alternate weeks.

Since we were bullied into recycling by Barnsley Cunting council,i must admit i have made an effort,but,with the amount of beer cans i consume in a week,and throw in the bin,i wonder where the money goes from my said recycled alluminimum cans?

I've said fuck em anyways,mi mates dad comes for all my beer cans and weighs em in.He must get about £1,000 p.a from me alone!

Some of mi mates collect em for him and he's now got a garage full,bless him!(he is a pensioner)

Barnsley cuntcil toyed with the idea of pay-as-you-throw But alas that idea was thrown out (see what i did there) mind you, mint have summat to do with the sales of incinerators (bin with a chimney) from the B+Q Warehouse in Barnsley going up 10,000 percent!

Most of the population are up for the idea of recycling,but when councils apply big arm tactics to MAKE us recycle without any reduction in cuntcil tax it hits home a bit hard!

Could be worse Jemma. In the city of Glendale (in Los Angelos) there is a couple that was told by the fire department to prune thier trees for safety precations. They hired a business to lightly prune the trees. Some one from the city concil saw it, and fined the couple $347,000 for pruning thier 'protected natural' oaks.

After a big tussle and alot of public outrage over a few months, Glendale finally reversed the fine....

Insane....

green bin - not used much at all. unless the grass grows.

It IS mostly crap too. A ton of recycled paper cost way more in terms of energy and chemical waste than a ton of virgin paper. Wood for paper comes primarily from managed forest, therefor each tree that gets cut down is replaced, growing trees suck up loads more CO2 than mature ones, so can any fucker please explain why we're encouraged to recycle paper, seems like a bad idea all round.

Besides, the shit probably ends up in the same landfill, it's just to make enviroloons feel good.

Never really liked freshwater eels either, always more effort than weight, and it was always so disappointing to get that familiar backwards pull when the tip went round on the lead or feeder. Why the wankers can't leave bait meant for real fish alone is beyond me. I'd rather have 10lbs of bleak and daddy ruff than six fat eels.

Conger fishing on a man made breaakwater is part Jaws (smoke and drink and talk shite until you hear click click CLIIIICCCCK WHIIIIIIRRRR....even felt like saying "we're gonna need a bigger pier" a few times), part poker, part olympic tug of war. I've seen the fuckers shatter shark gear.
