Are you missing the point entirely?!
You've got my name and Cambo's name in your signature. You don't know either of us so why you've repeated a comment one made about the other is beyond me. Especially when it's taken out of context.
Keep it there if you wish, but I personally don't see your reasoning behind it.

Hmm I don't know about honesty here. Honesty is good when it comes to following the rules and doing your own job. One simply has to do what the boss says and be more patient. When I have a higher position, I expect subordination and loyalty from the lower staff and from myself towards my supervisors.
If you're not comfortable with it, quit. That enviroment was not good for Kath, anyway. Good way to go.

As a union rep at work, I'd say definitely explore your options, even if you're not a member you can probbably get some advice... I've seen loads of shite treatment of staff by management magically disappear when unions get involved... Sounds like you're better off out of there anyways, but it's worth trying to make sure the same thing doesn't happen to somebody who really wants or needs the job in future...

Unison are bloody awful. That's the union for the company I work for. In my organisation we have people that have worked there for 30 years being made redundant (who had alleged substantive posts). They are being told that due to age discrimination legislation people on fixed term contracts (in the same job as them) have more rights (last in first out is out of the window). This is local government. Interesting that various managers have moved friends of theirs into those safe posts.

Honesty is the best policy. If you are unlucky enough to be working for a boss from hell, simply ask for a transfer and work 100% for someone who does value you.
