I hate bagpipes. To me that is the most offensive musical instrument ever. If ever I have a State funeral, Let me specify now, no bagpipes.

The sound has obviously permeated the German psyche...

"Scots soldiers were renowned in the Great War as "devils in skirts" because of their prowess on the battlefield and because of an unwillingness to take German prisoners."

"Devils In Skirts" the fighting 51st (Highland Light Infantry), that my Grandfather drill sergeant was fond of singing about. If the Germans knew The 51st were opposite them on the line they'd refuse to fight, or even just run away!

Ron, I've booked that flight out, I was talking about, and I'll be bringing my bagpipes with me!

Stirs the blood, and steadies the heart! Best music in the world: NO should have used them, and they'd still be together! :)

The Sasanach scarer.

They where/are a weapon! Even I was (almost) trembling (fuck know's what It'd be like for a foreigner) In Glasgow with the drums and pipers coming over the brow of a hill, you hear them coming a long time before you see them: nae wonder the Germans bolted!

That pish (Red Hot Pipers) at the top of this thread, bears the same relationship to poetry that Robert Burns and William McGonigle do (and that's an insult to McGonigle A.K.A Scotland's Worst Poet).
