Can anyone reccomend a decent one ? Around 250 GB is enough for me.Don't hold an awful lot of stuff.In fact its taken me nearly 4 years to fill my modest 80GB that came with the PC.Just discovered today i only have 6GB left.Last time i checked i had 60GB+ left! (although that coiuld have been nearly 2 years ago 
.Have deleted a lot of crap and defragmented and now have 15GB left but that'll soon be used.

Samsung spinpoint drive inside I believe.
Formatted in a single fat32 partition so compatible with any computer on earth that isn't running vista (tho vista users can use them reformatted).

There is a more compact way. Purchase a laptop drive (Laptop drive, and then buy a case to hold it (Harddrive case). This is about a third of the actual size and weight of Cambos. Also works off the power of a USB port, so is portable and can be used anywhere. The mosre inexpesive route too ( the last time I checked anyways).

Anyway, to steal the subject, can anyone help me with recording DVD on my PC? I installed DVD-R drive but I have no software for that. I have NERO but apparently it doesn't record on DVD-Rs. Any ideas?
James, that one is the same inerds as mine, but it's a plastic case, not aluminium. They are still fine by all accounts, but if you intend moving the drive around, the metal case would be better.
EB: I needed spaced bigtime, 4x500's storing.......
Drive 1: complete series (Dr WHo, Bab5, Top Gear, Bullshit, python, Pinky+brain, southpark, others) Drive 2: movies, tv shows etc, + 160GB of New Order, this is the one that lives in me laptop bag. Drive 3: backups of all our home machines as well as ISO's and installers for my software. Also currently holding Star Trek, all of it, for a mate. Drive 4: Racing and trains. Complete history of F1 and WRC, as well as lots of BTCC, accompanied by some train docs and cab ride videos.
Lapper drives, while smaller, are also less capacious, and generally have slowed access and transfer (important if I need to use an external with cubase etc).
The logic of getting the same drive over and over is that, I have one PSU plugged in near my PC's, one in my lapper bag, and 2 in reserve if the others fail.

Nero should not care if it's DVR-R or DVD+R
your drive is maybe DVD+R only, in which case you need +R discs.
OR you need a newer version of nero, it maybe just doesnae know what a dvd is.

Will go for a 500Gb one aye.An 80Gb is £50 but pay just another £20 and yer get 500Gb eh? how's that work then? such a lot more for only a few quid more/Although i did see a 40Gb Toshiba there for £100!!
