Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has called on the US and European governments to stop treating Colombian left-wing rebel groups as terrorists.
Mr Chavez said the Farc and ELN guerrilla movements were armies with a political project and should be recognised as such.

There's an old saying Andrès: "One man's terrorist, is another man's freedom fighter."
If the government of the U.K hadn't started talking to the I.R.A (The Provisional I.R.A. etc etc) the killings and bombings would still be happening.
Groups like this won't just disappear if you ignore them and hope they go away. Jailing them and driving them ever further from the centre of political power only helps make martyrs out of them: and in the end, strengthen their cause.
(And btw Andrès: In my opinion the very second these people started killing; was the same second they lost the right to call themselves Socialist/Communist. And I know I'm not alone in feeling this.)
