WTF???
He's an Aussie you know. I heard nothing but good things about him as the Joker in Dark Knight and was looking forward to that film. It won't be the same now and he was only 28. :(
Very little on the net but BBC news says he was found dead at his flat in Manhattan. Shame, RIP.
Edit: NYPD say its possibly drug related
wow, that's pretty surprising. RIP.
(I guess that throws yet another Terry Gilliam film into production limbo.)
it was talking about the giliam film
WHEN DOES FILMING WRAP? by ladiesman07 (Tue Jan 15 2008 03:53:32) WHEN DOES FILMING WRAP?
Re: WHEN DOES FILMING WRAP? by tron57 27 minutes ago (Tue Jan 22 2008 13:58:21) probably today....
ouch!
Sad news indeed... I liked that actor since I saw him in 10 Things I Hate About You.
He just finished the shooting for Batman, he's playing the Joker.
Just found out he was in Home and Away. Strange how crap Aussie soaps seem to be throwing up Hollywood stars.
Can honestly say, that i dont think ive ever seen one of his movies,
thoughts for the folk he leaves behind.

You not seen Brokeback?
Thought you'd have it on DVD. ![]()

Thats quite funny....

:D
One of the few times I'm genuinely surprised by a celeb's passing (I think the last time was Phil Hartman). Very sad, no matter what was involved. :(

10 Things is the only film of his I've ever watched, honestly couldn't remember who he was till I saw the pic from the movie. RIP

I bet this was his greatest fear, that he would die and this would be his only headline tag. Not that there was anything wrong with him doing the movie, it's just sad that millions of people tonight are probably reducing his life to the lame line "did you hear that gay cowboy from Brokeback OD'ed and just died".

Oh, I've seen many movies with him.
I loved Knight's Tale, but I also remember The Patriot with Mel Gibson. Four Feathers, Brother Grimms, and a few others like the lords of Dog town (I watch way too much movies, I know)
I didn't watch Brokeback Mountain though.
But apparently his performance in The Dark Night will be amazing...

Come on then - who's been thinking about the drugs he left behind?
Sorry.

Sadly, or otherwise, that seems to be how his life will be defined. From the Guardian this morning:
Heath Ledger, Oscar nominated star of Brokeback Mountain, dies aged 28
Heath Ledger, the Australian actor nominated for an Oscar in 2006 for his depiction of a brooding gay cowboy, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment yesterday. He was 28.
Just seems that no matter how long you spend away from the place, someone from Australia will always be 'an Australian' in people's eyes.
no, the batman movie finished, this was a film that is in production that he was in
have a look on imbd, the title seems right up your street
Embarrassingly, or not, I had no idea who this guy was. Knew the name, but would not have recognised the face. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one of his films either.
28 though. Fcuk. No age whatsoever. RIP.

ME!
Silly Cnut! If you don't know what and/or how much your taking and exactly what it does to you, you shouldn't be messing with dangerous drugs! (You should be posting them all to me! PM me for my postal address.)
And so another novelty, with nothing of value to add to the sum of human ken, passes into the obscurity his kind of L.A psycho-babblers deserve. Big fucking deal! Millions die every year from starvation/want of clean water and we're meant to feel sorry for some half-wit with more money (and drugs) than sense.
I'll reserve my sympathy for the pitiful poor of the world, who through no fault of their own, lead lives of extreme drudgery and poverty; if you don't mind!
PS: at this stage it seems mere conjecture that it was a drug overdose. If in fact it was a deliberate suicide then that's a different matter. As I had to point out to a little wanker talking shite about Curtis "taking the easy way out" we can only guess at the pain and suffering of people in such situations.

I'm sorry for laughin.
And Barca,or whoever you are this week, you are all heart.![]()
RIP
I've liked him since he was in A Knights Tale. Tragic that somebody so young (and a father) can go like this. RIP
Oh and Ladiesman, before you book your flight - it was apparently an overdose on prescription drugs!
Boatraceface wrote:

Think you've missed my point Boaty. I've plenty of heart/sympathy for those who really deserve it!
1 overpaid actor (fuck me that's not work, that's playing yourself and getting far far too much money/status for doing so.) And this is a major "news" story while many many thousands have died today due to poverty. But that's not "news." It'd be almost funny if it wasn't so utterly fucking sick!
I'm no happy he's pan breed, but I'm no sad about it either. The guys sweeping streets and cleaning sewers should be the ones getting exorbitant wages and fawned over, no some ponce playing himself in films and talking insincere shit, to dumb as fuck interviewers!
And PS: Hannibal is the guy famed for taking elephants and a massive army over the Alps and who had the might of the Roman empire trembling at the knees. Why he didn't sack Rome when he had the chance is one of history's great mysteries.
You are one of those patronising cunts ar'nt you Barca?
You can't help thinking you know more about the world and it's history than the rest of us don't you?
You can't help it.
Steelworker = something sub intellectual,to you?
Just because I don't feel the need to patronise or lecture people on here does'nt mean I'm not actually bright as a button, and can chew the fat on any level with anyone about most stuff.I don't need to justify anything on yer assumption, just letting you know.
You sure you ar'nt Hannibal Lecturer?![]()
If you ar'nt arsed about Heath Ledger, you have a sactimonious way of showing your indifference.![]()
It is too early to say about this guy, but I've always sided with Bobby Gillespie who was meant to have said that River Phoenix was just another lightweight who died in the street because he couldn't take his drugs. Fair play to them for trying, but it's easy to be rock and roll when you've not got to be up for work in the morning. It takes a certain skill to fuck up when lying on your bed waiting for a massage, full of sleeping pills while your housekeeper takes care of real life you you is as tough as it gets.
Poor poor millionaire actors, eh? They should get some real fucking problems and fuck off while they're doing it.

Work in the morning, and real life pressures and problems have saved many a lightweight, and possibly right up to super-heavyweight from the same fate,I'd wager..
Can you imagine how much largin you could do in such a carefree existence?

The only reason I went on about Hannibal was because you kept referring to him as Barca (his lesser known surname). I'm from Springburn mate, (the part of Glasgow which built trains to send all over the world, and had an insatiable need for steel) and know plenty of steelworkers, plus as I said to Chris on some other thread "I love the idea of Scum like me knowing about Greek/Roman literature." I've never for a fucking moment patronised anyone because of their class/occupation: and I thoroughly resent the implication that I ever would!
It's one of the main reasons that I hate that fucker Lenin, his idea that the working class is/was too thick to understand Socialism and needed an intelligentsia/leaders is truly fucking abhorrent.
**PS:**Is this the "patronising" attitude about manual workers your on about?

You did attempt to educate me about Hannibal Barca.
Why would you assume I don't know his story in history?
How do you know I am not a history buff?
I love history,I do.![]()
And when I said "Barca you are all heart"
It was an off the cuff remark, which you've taken to the nnnnth degree.

Boaty it wasn't aimed only at you. Plus as I sais it was because of your refering to him/me as Barca... It was more of a throwaway comment to maybe spark some interest in the youngsters who use the site.
I hated Roman/Greek history when I was younger 'cause I thought it was an oxbridge ponce of a subject, with no relevance or anything to teach us. Then I read "All the masses need is bread and circuses" and thought "Oh ho. Haud the fort." Spartacus!? The Third Slave war!?
I started from WWII, and the industrial revolution, before developing a passion for Rome and Greece.
Those who don't know their history are condemned to repeat it. So what period you in too?
And:
"It was an off the cuff remark, which you've taken to the nnnnth degree."
I did admit I'm as prone to over seriousness as anyone else on this site:- No offence meant mate.
I usually think your pretty funny,
(When I can understand you
)
plus somebody that obviously hates Thatcher
as much as you do canny be too bad!
What a tragic lost:( He was an amazing actor and he was so young.:( Life is so unfair:(
RIP Heath:(

That's my post of the year right there ![]()
Ladies and gentelmen may I introduce two of my very special friends:
Mr Nail.
And Mr Head.
quite sad. Saw him a few times when he lived in brooklyn with his ex-wife. Seemed like a family man, always with his daughter.
R.I.P
This really saddened me. I work with young people and have seen 8 youngsters under the age of 21 die from drug's overdoses in 7 years. The devastation it leaves behind is just awful.
I liked him as an actor but regardless of who it is, it's a tragic waste of life. Very Sad.
my mom was going on about him earlier and i'm like well they can speculate all they want but no one will know until they do the autopsy on him what happened, if i were guessing at it, i'd say if there were a bunch of pills around him and he was acting nuts before he died, i'd much rather say an accidental overdose because when you're on as many pills as he supposedly was, the pills can take over your mind and i know this from experience cos i tried to end my life while on a few of them. and combining drugs does not help the situation therefore, its human error on his part.plenty of folks die from the same situation if it is at all what it seems to be and the only difference with him is he was some famous dude and so everyone is going to pick and prod, including me like vultures on shit in a pasture at high noon.cry me a fucking lake with swans in it screwing like chickens in a hillbilly farm yard....
Na bollocks..
You can't take a sleeping pill, or two, or three, too many.
He's topped himself. Tortured soul, torn up by his break-up with missus.
I just heard something about him being so into certain 'scenes' from Brokeback that he broke Jake Gylenhaal's nose on one occasion, in his enthusiasm.
Animadversion wrote: do you think he played with that guy's nutsacks a little too?
Mebbe that film brought about a new conflict in life for him, mentally.
Animadversion wrote: i was being humorous you fucking cunt.lol.stop being so serious.
oh... and i wasnt?.. sniff some more gasolene, chuck.![]()
He apparently died of a crack overdose. It was a habit he picked up during the filming of Brokeback Mountain.
OK that was just terrible, but I had to laugh when it was told to me, by my big boss of all people.
A couple of his films I really enjoyed were, Brothers Grimm and Two Hands. His performance as the Joker is really something to look forward to.
RIP.
and that massage person that found him spent 9 minutes making phone calls before calling 911...
of course, if he was already dead, what the fuck does it matter how long she spent on the phone before she called 911...well, as long as the body doesn't start stinking...
So is the new Batman film screwed or had he finished?
Ollie Reed kicked it while making Gladiator didn't he? and they finished with CGI, but he wasn't a major character.
Fcuk. 28's too young.
Saw "10 Things I Hate About You", "Brothers Grimm", "A Knight's Tale." They were all pretty good. [And hell, I'll even admit--I did think Heath was cute. What?]
Still, 28. Much too fcuking young. ![]()
