Police demo

Around 17,000 police officers are demonstrating in central london today over a pay dispute. questions must be; who's going to police this demo ? what if it all kicks off,will the police battle with the police ? battons and cs gas at the ready

My guess is the police will get very close to what they want,very quickly..

The government can afford to fuck the other sevices around,like the Firemen recently,because that's only risking people burning to death,which they would blame the Fire service itself for..

They could'nt risk a Police strike,and never would as the reprecussions on national security would'nt even be contemplated by the government..The Police are very much top of the sevices priority,politically..People can burn, and others die waiting for operations in hospitals as far as governments are concerned, no problem.They need the Police more.Harsh truth.

Is'nt it actually illegal for the police to go on strike? This demonstration might not achieve so much if that is the case..

Think it is illegal for them to strike, heard this morning that they are going to ask for the right to strike... Chances are if they ain't getting their pay demands, they ain't getting the right to strike... Guess at least the policing of the demo won't be too heavy-handed...

It's not a strike, it's a demonstration. They're going to form some sort of a queue somewhere outside Parliament. The officers involved are all off duty.

The English and Welsh Police have got the same pay deal as the Scottish. The difference is that the Scottish deal was backdated more than the English and Welsh, so it's not worth as much.

The march will be Policed in the normal manner by on-duty Metropolitan Officers and there will be an anti- demonstration by Class War or someone.

I love the Police, anyway. After Saturday morning, they are my friends!

Get the ex-miners and their sons to police it. See how the heavy boot on the other foot feels.

I know they're a suspicious lot, but they'd be too terrified of being labelled as 'racist' if they reported or tackled someone that they presumed was one of their own for having a rucksack/bag/big coat and being brown or not-quite-white...

I'll concede that in today's sick society the police are a sometimes a necessary evil, although their primary role is still to protect the property the Capitalist Class has stolen from the Working Class that produced it. An' aweright I have on rare occasions actually met police officers with slightly more than fresh air between their ears.
