Yeah was watching it on Sky News. Its around the Lock area of the market; appears that Hawley Arms garden area is on fire, and main building is ok, but in danger.

I hope this doesnt mean Dingwalls has been burned down again, cos i think that will be third time in thirty years.

That would be Westfield. I believe it is one of four or five malls they have planned for London. Knowing them it will happen, so say goodbye to your high street shopping as well. Darn colonials.

I erm doubt it. Plenty of places in London that could be ruined by fire quite happily and welcomed by many residents, but Camden Lock isnt one of them. Its worth far too much money in terms of entertainment and tourist cash. Shopping mall wont work cos its not really easily accessible by car and impossible to park. Its a big earner for food and ale, and steeped in modern history.

I'm never one to knock redevelopment, at all, and lots of London needs it, no doubt, just like many other cities.

could think of a handful of places that could do with a bunch of arsonists and a shopping centre to replace the carnage, relatively quickly and totally welcomed by the local residents. Camden is one of those special places though, and way too protected, but for the right reasons.

You could at least have waited until I fixed up that second link.

I did read something about Westfield wanting to put a mall on some market in London. I just can't remember which one.

Yes, Re-order (and possibly the Chems?) - it's also the one that I went to before the Paul Hartnoll and Underworld gigs last year (because it has a smoking area on the roof)...

Ah well, time to find another meet-up for the Underworld gigs at the end of the month...

Doesn't look like it was rigged towards Insurance claims and for Development's sake. Location wise makes more sense, even $ wise, to not have to deal w/ the damage.
