From memory here are some examples:

(1) Jarvis Cocker dropping his pants during Michael Jacksons melodramatic performance of Earth song at some award ceremony (2)KLF firing machine gun blanks in to the audience at 92 Brit awards and dumping a dead sheep at the aftershow party (3) That Sex Pistols performance on a boat outside parliament (4) Keith Moon...nuff said (5) Ozzy Osbourne ditto (6) The Happy Mondays exploits in Barbados (7) Stone Roses performance on the late show (8) The entire Factory experiment (9) Morrisseys quotes in the press during the 80's (10)New Order refusing to mime on top of the pops

I am sure there must be loads more, any examples?

you forgot to say no 3 was on the queens silver jubilee

& 7 was hardly outrageous, all they did was stand around after blowing the power with ian brown shouting amateurs.

what about one of the clash being arrested for knicking a bus stop?

It was really only £40,000, with cleverly hidden paper copies amongst the notes.

Caught the attention of the press.

Still, pretty extreme thing to do with £40K :eek3:

It's not rock if it's designed to shock.

Real rockers do what they want and don't give a fuck what people think.

I thereby disqualify KLF from this thread as they only did it for the attention anyway.

Chucking the dead sheep into the party was class though. And the time they turned up in a tank to a celebrity demolition derby race and squashed all the other cars before any of the other celebs had got into them.

Really? Hadn't known that. I remember watching the documentary but hadn't ever been aware it wasn't actually 1 million.Makes all the interviews where they talked about what it felt like to waste that money a bit of a con then.It did intrigue me how they had a miilion quid in the first place.I mean they had a sold a few records under their various different guises but to have made that much? :skeptic:

They borrowed a million quid from the bank and gave it to journalists to nail to a big peice of wood. I forget why. All that money had to be burnt because they'd put a fucking big whole through each one of the notes.

Bill Grundy. The entire incident must have looked so surreal - it's 1976 after all.

I'd go with Jerry Lee Lewis marrying his 12-year old second cousin..........or Gram Parsons' "executive nanny" stealing his corpse just as his dad was about to claim it and have it buried back in Louisiana; the "nanny" took the body out to the Joshua Tree National Monument in California and burned the body in an agreement between artist and manager that was agreed upon before the death of either one. Nice one Phil. :smoking:

I'd still go with Keith Richards still being alive. The guy has grandchildren FFS!!

I have said it before and I'll say it again....

when the apocalypse happens and we all die, the only things left will be Keith Richards and the cockroaches.

A reporter once asked Duff McKagan, bassist for Guns n' Roses, why he used heroin.

"Keith did it."

You're all forgetting Richie Edwards before he went walkabouts in Goa or whereever.

NME "Are you lot for real?"

Richie "Yeah we're for real,watch.."

And proceeds to hack "4 REAL" in his arm with a razorblade.
