I was the entire Identity and Passport Service (and a few other things and all) on Saturday night, you're not even in the same league of boring fucko.
Bass strings tend to have such thick and heavy windings that the don't snap outright, and if they do it's a bit of a let down, though they can sort of "rear up" as the snap and twat your picking hand a little.
HOWEVER, my first bass had ANCIENT strings on it (three of them were flaming tapewound, fuckin hard to find these days), which were old and stiff and brittle. When, in my inexperience, I over stressed the G, it snapper with such ferocity that it gave me a very nasty looking slash on my left cheek, looked very much like the work of a bramble meeted out upon one in a rapid thickett traversal.
My mate once sat on my uncased Moog power supply, duely receiving 240V right into his arse cheek through spikey little terminals. And I once nearly got me arm blown off when I touched the selector u-nail-type-thing on the back of a valve amp, it was configured for 17KV valves at the time, was dizzy for days.
