Fundamental

I wooo Fundamental by the Pet Shop Boys. I dUUUUGEd it finally and it's quite fair. I like that Sodom & Gomorrah Show, Casanova in Hell (woot, he's got no instant erection?), that Psychological, I Think I Have To Apologize, and other songs. Usually I'm not fond of ballads and slow music in general, but lyrics are quality and Trevor Horn made a decent job. He even copied Hooky-style bass playing in Minimal.

Does anybody here even like the Pet Shop Boys??

I especially like the Electronic songs that Tennant collaborated on. Behavior is my favorite album.... well that just might be because its my only album I have of thiers....

Yep for many years I considered Behavior a masterpiece. It was a nice house-n-orchestra blowjob. That was a real work.

The way I heard it was that Barney had bought new sequencer software for his Mac (Passport I think), and while he was hardly incapable of using it, felt that a really experienced operator would help them not piss studio time away fumbling about. Marr knew Tennant, or someone who knew him, and knew he'd been using Passport at home for several months. So he was brought in to ease Bernard's learning curve, and of course if you happen to have a spare chart-topping singer hanging around the studio, you may as well shove a mic in his face.

accident or not, I still think the songs that tennant collaborated on were Electronic's best... too bad bernard didn't notice the chemistry working and try to keep tennant on the project for the other albums... everything went slowly downhill after the first album

I dont know actually, I actually prefer Raise the Pressure to the debut. Really love the Italian disco sounds.

As regards PSB's; Fundamental is perfectly acceptable but not quite up there with their output 86-93. Still good to have them around though, the understated image and style is still there.

I also love PSB as well. And Fundamental was a great album.

It's a really good album,not quite up there with VERY or BEHAVIOUR,but they can do no wrong. For me it's Get the Message and then everything else for Electronic. I like pretty much everything they did, but the ones with PSB are far from my favourites.

Although Twisted Tenderness is a great track too.

Alright it's Get the Message and Twisted Tenderness, then there's everything else.

And I quite like Can't Find My Way Home as well.

I don't see how Twisted Tenderness was anywhere near "downhill" but a steady fast ride on upward if anything. Yeah, RTS was rather bland and severely below Barney and Johnny, minus a few songs, but nowhere near their capabilities. Then Twisted Tenderness came along and blasted it all away like an H-bomb. Fucking classic album. Ashame it wasn't promoted very well, that thing could have been a sure hit.

Also, about the Neil collabs. I think it was Neil who more so wanted to pursue other stuff at the time, and Barney and Johnny took forever to even get their butts in gear for a second album anyway. So, Neil moved on. Poor guy probably wouldn't have patience for them anyway.
