The latter day Michael Schumacher. In his first 4 or 5 years he was a true racer, stunning to watch, and capable of winning in a shitbox of a car. But by 2002 he had a car that won races with any dipshit at the controls, would refuse to race, prefering to sit behind and wait for the guy in front to pit so he could use his better car and leapfrog the guy during the stops. So awful was this syndrome that it put me right off him (and after the Brit GP of 2002, nearly off F1). That and the way the rules shielded him (Malaysia 2001(2?) he slides wide at turn1 during a stupid overtaking manouvre and hits JPM, JPM gets a stop/go penalty. 2 race later JPM slid into Michael in a less ambitious manouvre, JPM received a penalty. His parking accross the track at Monaco in 06 was beyond all credulity, I USED TO DO THAT ON THE PLAYSTATION FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last year was the best since 97, really excellent, and all cos he was gone.
Speaking of last year, the current most over hyped sportsman in the UK is Lewis Hamilton. He IS a truly breathtaking talent, but the press need to shut the fuck up and go back to ignoring the only sport the UK is any good at like they usually do.

Seriously, Tony Romo has shown flashes of brilliance. However, I think he still wakes up in cold sweats dreaming about the Seattle disaster. He's going to have to get over that.
But, if Patirck Creighton doesn't stop in the middle of a route that would have been a sure touchdown, we're probably talking about the Cowboys 6th Super Bowl right now.

Can't give you my thoughts on the most overratted sports star (never come across such a thing yet frankly), but I most certainly can offer you a couple of examples of overrated sports stars....
...as mentioned earlier, I have to concur the following:
David Beckham - even though he's a much better housewife than that talent-free lemon-sucking skinny bint of a wife of his (and in all probability better looking as well - I mean, has anyone ever seen a picture of that bitch SMILING???)
Cristiano Ronaldo - I wish that fucking show off would break one of his legs. That will give that greedy red-faced fuck Fergie summat to whinge even more about rather than forever gloating over how many dropped points Mr Wenger musters up week in week out...zzz...zzz...zzz...zzz...
Paul Gascoigne - sorry to appear unsympathetic but...exactly how was he elevated to the superstar that he became back then? By fucking crying like a girl on the pitch, that's how. Wow. Such a big nancy boy! That went a long way didn't it? Granted, it's sad to see him in the state he is as of now, and I do hope he sorts himself out, but some things will NEVER ever be forgotten in a hurry - namely when he decided to make bleeding pop records with a bunch of past-it folky hippy throwbacks, hanging out with speccy gingerbollox and then making a career out of wife-beating whilst under the influence of plastic comedy tits and five-bellies.

Michael Owen, absolutely agree 100% he was amazing in France'98, but i think he's just steadily gone down hill in the 10 years since.
Liverpool fans love him, but if he was as good as he's made out to be wood he have gone from Liverpool, to Real to Newcastle?
Everyone on the '06 Italy team. I've only seen 4 world cups, and I easily realized that they are the least talented team to have won it in AGES. If only Henry wasn't taken out and if Zidane had not, well you know :(

Kobe, and though he's not a "sports star" in a conventional sense, I couldn't stand commentator Dick Vitale.

I hate Kobe just as much as anybody does, but I wouldn't classify him as overrated cause he can still do a lot on court, as opposed to Shaq these days. I hate him cause I seem to recall him recently whining about the fact that he wanted to be traded from the Lakers cause management wasn't doing anything to help him.
As for "Duke" Vitale, most Tar Holes hate him as well, I'd say. Go to hell Carolina!
