i know tesco wants to have every pound you earn, but didn't know how far they'd go - they have announced a new download service, launching it next month

still, if it's cheaper than itunes & higher bitrate...

What's the bit-rate then? Can't see anywhere on their site. And, while we're at it, what's the standard iTunes bit-rate, I've never bought from 'em.

In fact, truthfully, I still don't see why anyone pays for downloads in this day and age. (Bar the odd donation via paypal, natch)

Accusing people's parents of shopping/working at Tesco used to be akin to calling them pikeys at school... The old Tesco store in Rickmansworth was a fcuking state though - made the Kwik Save on Watford High St look like Harrods...

They all look the same to me, although you do seem to get a better class of checkout chicks in Waitrose, which goes some way towards justifing the high prices, in my opinion

I tend to buy a lot of chart singles of I-Tunes that I play in the pub I work,where I don't always have time to check if some radio DJ twat is talking over it. But if you're looking for a more exclusive remix..

I bought one track from iTunes - never again

You can recode it to mp3/wav for free in iTunes (the media player) (to any bitrate you want as well). It only takes a few seconds to do.

It is a bit hidden Chris, but all versions of iTunes have it.

Go to the 'Edit' area on the top bar.

"Prefences'

Go to the "Advanced" tab

Go to the "Importing" tab

Select your file type in the drop down menu of "Import Using" (select the bitrate you like below that)

Hit "OK"

the settings are now good.

Now go to the song(s) that you want and left click on them, it will give an option to "Convert Selection to mp3". Do this and it will convert the song. Once done, erase the old song (as there will be two versions, the M4 and the mp3) in iTunes and on your harddrive.
