He is basically a bum, a hanger-on, anyway isn't he... in a fun way. Sort of like the Manchester version of Flavor Flav. Sounds like he has been pretty successful to get enough to go bankrupt twice.

S'pose you could say that there's no show without Punch but I think it goes a bit deeper than that. Ryder's no fool; he wouldn't keep someone on the payroll if he wasn't pulling his weight. I think he adds more than a bit of dancing to the party. Perhaps quality control for Ryder? Or just, as credited on one album 'maraccas and vibes'?
