Only two bands among that list that I'd see if I was there - Elbow and We Are Scientists. Wouldn't bother with either if I wasn't already there.

only two decent bands? are you blind or deaf chris? the national are clearly the best band there but all of these are worth watching

I've seen/heard alot of those bands Dave - the worst being 'The Kings Of Leon' who were utter cack.
Maybe Leonard Cohen might keep my interest, but as for the others... 'Purleeese!' LOL
EDIT: I didn't say anything about 'decent' - I said the only two bands I'd bother seeing. My reasoning for not wanting to go - just preference

And some of the bands playing on the other stages, British Sea Power, Jimmy Cliff, Holy Fuck, The Whip, Sons and Daughters, Mystery Jets, The Infadels, Kosheen, The Levellers, Hayseed Dixie, Captain, Metronomy, and hell, if there was nothing on, I'd watch Jay Z!

I've heard most of them Liam and just found them boring. It was good to see a few of them, just to see what they were like live, but they simply didn't appeal to me when I heard them.
I found that out of those listed, the more 'interesting' or maybe 'quirky' were We Are Scientists and Elbow.
Maybe it's my age, but so many bands sound too similar to me nowadays. A friend was playing a compilation CD with The Fratellis, Franz Ferdinand, Editors, Interpol, The Killers, etc. and asked me what I thought. I said, 'Which band is that?' He said, 'Which track?'
I hadn't even realised that each track was by a different band.
To be fair, Dave didn't mention The Levellers in his post or Kosheen or BSP - I'd go to see those three.
Nowadays, I tend to like music that doesn't sound like it's simply been made to a record company formula, which is why I liked Joy Division so much.
'Original' to me is more like:
Although I must admit 'Heartwear Process' - the last band owe alot to Nick Cave/Birthday Party/Boys Next Door

I've seen the Levellers a couple of times and they were quite fun.
I've liked the BSP stuff I've heard and Kosheen are a band I've never seen and only heard one track, so curiosity really.

Are you seriously telling me that you think The Fratellis and Interpol sound similar?
When the bands are played in that kind of order, there's not much to choose between them
Sorry, just not impressed by any of the boybands nowadays.
In my day bands wore suits and learnt proper dance steps.
Now they just wave their hands around and scream. I saw a band the other week. There was a bloke blowing a whistle on stage. Blowing a bloody whistle. Bring back Freddie bloody Mercury. Now he was a performer. Really, once you've got Freddie Mercury and Jimmy Page you don't need anyone else. It's all just beeping these days anyway. "Scratch" I call it. It's just a noise.
Shakey? lets get Michael Barrymore's "My kind of people" in the John Peel tent next year. And Jimmy Saville to headline the dance tent. Going to Glasto couldn't be worse than watching the BBC's woeful coverage though. Occasional pop gem nuggets, hidden in hour-upon-hour of "crazy" Jo Whiley not knowing whats going on and Mark Radcliffe looking bemused at his muddy wellies, having seen Kippington Lodge reform in the jazz tent. I didn't know KOSHEEN were still going! They are brilliant live.Saw them at Mountford Hall,Liverpool supporting FAITHLESS.
Glastonbury used to be a few great days in some picturesque fields in Somerset. Now it's a self/media-appointed 'institution'/'event' which revels in (at best) general mediocrity and NME-derived pop-popularity.
It died when they fuckers put it on TV in 1994 which, not incoincidentally, was the last time it was any good. Or, indeed, the last time the fucking weather was any good (bar 1995, which was the beginning of the end anyhows....).
Aye 1994 was a classic.We stayed there for nearly a week that year and there was only a brief bit of rain .But that was during Oasis so we went back to the tent because they were unimportant.Orbital , St Etienne i recall as superb.Was a having a massive night in the dance tent then needed to go outside for a piss but tripped over the guide ropes and was unable to get up.Lay there for the rest of the night.
If i was goin this year i'd check out

I concur Al, if there is a band on I like it's a bonus, and this year I have:-

it looks a crap line up at first viewing because of the headliners but look closer and there is a few i'd see.
editors,goldfrap,elbow,hot chip,massive attack,the whip.
that leaves plenty of time to see a few names you dont know and for pottering about to comedy tent etc,and drinking of course.
no chas and dave this year though

Yup, that's what I always used to do at Glasto - discovering bands that you'd never heard of before...
Although, James Blunt... 
(It could have been worse, they could have had Mika as well)!
