Know anyone selling a Pad8/Pad80 or even one of the SPD series?

I badly need a drum controller of some kind, and it's either an octopad or a full scale USB kit (that's BOUND to suck for £200).

They are like fuckin hen's teeth to find on ebay.

Last electronic percussion in the slightlynarrow camp was a Boss Dr110 with wires leading out from the buttons to pads made from cardboard, photographs (as a skin) and tinfoil. Worked a treat, but my soldering is hopeless, to it was held together by prayer power, until it wasn't anymore :(

build your own drumpads! if I can.... I made them from some piezo transducers (?), a couple of mouse-mats and housed it in a carpeted, sponge-filled toolbox from b&q.... then it fires up the trigger inputs of my dm5.

Will, considering my last attempt, I never wish to build an electronic perc rig again. Have to say that using piezo's is slightly more sensible than photographic paper coated in tin foil.

What's with the USB 1.1 jack? Surely there must be a newer model out?

No need, it only has to carry triggers, no vast amounts of data.

I thought 2.0 also gave better power to the device and more reliable because of it.

All true, but this is nothing but a bank of switches, so nothing too clever required. Remember most music gear interfaces via MIDI, which, is pushing 30 years old and is 7bit 32 kilobaud. Not quick, but does the trick.
