Anyone been to any recently? I've just done a dance weekender at Camber Sands and it was a right fcuking larf. Would defo go again. And try to persuade more mates to do the same. I know the likes of Hibster's done ATP in the past, but he can't be the only one?

Dunno why I wouldn't think it was gonna be an ace weekender. Two couples with two other mates all in a six-berth chalet. Had an sooperb time from start to finish. Thankfully Saturday was the hottest day of the year so the girlies did the beach whilst the lads watched footie in the boozer too. Saw Model 500 live and made friends with Altern-8 (got talking to Mark Archer on Friday night without realising who he was at first). Only downer was Dopplereffekt having synth problems at the very last minute and not going on (some Scots lass was in tears at the news!).

Think I must've just gone with pre-conceived ideas of miserable weather and v.tacky entertainment from lots of trips to these things in my youth. Admittedly these places are still stuck in a 70's Timewarp but at least they had nice beds (I was genuinely expecting metal-mesh beds no longer than 4ft" long each).

Definitely a welcome break from the norm.

From the lack of replies, we are all too cool to go to a holiday camp. I mean, the clue's in the title. Natch.

I'm gonna take Littleinoil to that Centre Parks this summer. Does that count?

Actually, I might take him to Butlins instead.

Fancy it, Shug?

Oh right, the word 'holiday'?

You need to get out more.

I stayed at Camber Sands a few years ago. The 'entertainment' would contravene the trade descriptions act, but the chalet thing was nice, the beach was fine and if you take the trouble to get a bus to Rye you can actually purchase reasonable beer.

Managed to stay at another two holiday camps while lugging my tent around. Even stayed at one on the Isle Of Wight for free after chatting with a security guard who was a New Order fan! The evening 'entertainment' at all of them was appalling (nothing else to do at these places though) as was the food, but if it's just a one-nighter while walking, who cares? Especially if you can leave the holiday camp and bugger off to a proper pub instead.

Most of the 'guests' at these places seemed fine and very friendly too, so I'd happily visit one again. Not for an extended period though. It would drive me mad :nonono:

It's just something I've never fancied. Having said that, when I got the text about Altern8 - I definitely would have went

BTW Hibster, even by your standards, that line was a bit close to the bone :p

Yes!!!! On Saturday night in fact. Trablogan Holiday Village just outside of Cork. Was there in a "work" capacity for some mental international student event. And I got Chalet 69 ;)

We arrived late and left early but I still got to experience the thrill of cooking myself Kraft Cheesy Pasta on a less-than-safe looking gas hob and drying myself with a bedsheet cos they don't supply you with any towels!!!!

The kids that were there were having a fecking ball though and I can see the attraction. When is All Tommorrow's Parties?

some friends of mine went to the 80's weekend at buckerlins (butlins) in Skeggy/Skegvegas/Skegness last year and absolutely loved it!

mite try it next year if they do the 80's weekend again.

Apparently they do a "adults only" weekend there too, which could be good.:brow:
