I remember reading an article about a decade ago when there was a special director's cut of "Leon" screened as a one-off in Paris with only Besson's friends family & the cream of France's cineaste community invited.
Apparently the extra hour or so of footage made it absolutely unambiguously clear that the killer and Natalie Portman's character were boning. People were walking out in disgust. French people.

I've got the International version.The great bits which should have made it into the Cinema release,are when Leon takes Matilda on for some "hits",not just the one on the rooftop you see. The ambiguous bit is,no they don't screw,but Leon's only misgiving about them being together,is...erm that he's had his heart broken before.
