just got in from work today to find six yes six letters from those lovely people at the council tax who are telling me they want my back dated poll tax for six yes six years payed.hi honey im home. fuckin great. they go back to 1994. fuck sake, dont the arseholes realise i was young and stupid and it was my first flat after fleeing the nest and i was too busy getting drunk and thinking that if i ignored the bills long enough they would go away, and up untill i got home today i thought the bills had gone away. has anyone else, especially in the glasgow area had this problem today as i think it has something to do with new debt collectors we have.

That's happened to me twice. Once, in Manchester, it was because the Landlord was ripping us off by collecting the tax and not paying it. The dick.

The second time it was because we simply never got a bill for two years, then they all arrived at once.

You can normally arrange to pay back over about a million years.

Don't ignore it though, they will not leave you alone once they're into you.

Christ on a bike ,sorry to hear that , eld.

Never had that although i'm a sucker who pays it on the dot every month by direct debit. On the upper hand good news i got a £104 rebate on my electricty bill for the last quarter because they reckoned i'd only used £2.27 for that period. That has to be wrong! Ain't gonna tell em of course but i'm sure they'll realise the mistake eventually and demand the £104 back.Er , i've probably not helped my cause by mentioning it publicly on an internet forum Duh!

Quick calculation - :teach:

You owe em about 3 an arf grand!

Tell em to fookin stick it,THEY have to prove You owe the DEBT,unless you filled forms in and all that shit....

There is a way of getting round this issue,by a rarely used loophole,p.m me and we can discuss fees etc...... :evil4:

Oh P.s,funny isn't it how they can backdate council tax BACK ,but they will only backdate counciltax benefit for ONE year! :banghead:

i have only had a quick look at the letters, then did what i always do, which is put them aside for another day, but i think i paid some to some of the years, the amounts are also different due to my state of employment at the times.

I about shat myself when I bought my new house, as three days before escrow closed they poped out a 7 year old electric bill of $18 (when I went to Boot Camp my roommate was to pay the remainder of the bill, which I guess he didn't). If I didn't pay it in 3 days I would lose the house. Called the Electric company and they stated I couldn't pay it because it was more than two years old. So then I asked if they could wipe it off thier records, which their response was "no, sir, you owe us money we can't wipe off a debt without you paying"... "so how can I pay it?"... "you can't"... Conversation went on like this for an hour and with 5 different people... luckily the mortgage company decided to let it go... the day escrow was to close:dead:
