Or every hour, apparently.

Don't care what you say, the Cure are OK (even if WMS was rubbish and the last two only so-so and yes Bob is a fat bastard and yes the Jo Brand look was never a good idea even back when it was 'slim Jo Brand'. But still.).

All the same, my first reaction to the Cure singles thing was the same as to the New Order reissues 'oh dear, more expense and storage space'. I worry I might have lost the point of this 'music' concept somewhere along the line.

Shouldn't the release of new stuff by Coldplay be more cause for concern? Their new single is absolutely fucking awful.A total dirge. My point being that at least there's not much chance of suffering any of these new Cure singles every time you turn on the radio /tv/walk out of the front door this summer as they won't get airplay whereas Chris Martin is going to be inflicting his lame whine everywhere this year.I actually didn't mind some of the stuff off X&Y if i'm brutally honest but the new single is absolute fucking bilge :barf:

Agree with you 100% Johnnyboy. I too absolutely unreservedly unequivocally detest loathe and despise Coldplay with every ounce of my being. Even my two dogs start running around the room in a state of near frantic exasperation when they come on the radio. It's summat to do with Mr Gwynneth Paltrow's horrid whine-cum-yodelling voice. Yellow has got to be one of the most annoying songs ever - with lyrics so awful and so inconsequential that even Barney's trite musings sound coherent by comparison.

Coldplay are the epitome of safe conservative unchallenging aural wallpaper for the masses. A musical placebo if you like. How they ever got so gigantic is beyond my comprehension. Even Radiohead - a band too overrated for their own good - were never as stultifyingly dull as this - preferring to fuck around with their sound just to see how many of their purists they could piss off and alienate with each new album post OK Computer.

Anyway, compared to Coldplay - and to a lesser extent, insipid contemporaries such as Travis, Feeder, Starsailor and Razorshite, pretty much any other band worth their millions has to be infinitely superior - unless of course, you count the odious likes of the Stereophonics.

Right - back to The Cure..... why doesn't Robert Smith hook up with the Killers and bring out a collaborative single just for a laugh. The thought of the two whiney old jessies jerking off together in unison somehow appeals to the really perverse side of me.......

Have you heard the B-side? its them really trying to sound a bit cool and nothing like Coldplay. Quite funny really, if not a bit desperate. Heard an interview with Chris Martin about him wanting his kids when they are at school, to have a dad in whats regarded as a 'cool band'. Then he goes and names his child 'Apple'. FFS.

What a jerk. Still, he has a few further options - he could continue the theme by naming them all after fruits: Pomegranate, Kiwi, Lemon, Pear, Kumquat - to suggest but a few; or he could be REALLY obtuse and call his second-born Macintosh. And then the third Windows. And then his fourth Intel Pentium ...... But not before either Steve Jobs or the guys who own the Beatles empire sue the arse off him first..... fucking gimp!.:uhoh: :evil4:
