Born and raised a pure bred "Alster Pratistunt", ingrained bigotry, the whole heap. Somewhere about 12 or 13 I discovered the Cafflicks did not in fact eat dogs, or steal everything you own etc etc etc. Between that and getting punished for asking my Religious Education teacher, how come what he was telling us didn't tally with that the guy in the geography classroom had just been saying, and which one of them was lying....I reformed :D

Well I said 'sometimes'. Over here most people are not that devout. And the war between catholic and protestant is not that intensive (as e.g. in ireland). In fact no one cares about church around here anyway. So who cares? But some extremists are everywhere and in every religion.

I escaped the throes of Cafflicism, had a hard time fitting in with the Pratistunts, and am happily at home now as an Anglican [well, Episcopalian technically, but still under some sort of proper jurisdiction of the Canterburian Archbishop]. And then one day some two years ago I came across "Fox's Book of Martyrs." When I read about the persecutions from the papacy, my jaw dropped.
I wonder if the papacy ever in recent times send a "Mea Culpa" for the atrocities they did to the Reformed centuries ago. 
'Cause some of those horrific tortures I read in there that they did were just so...
