I like Bere's website showing her CD collection. Does anyone know of other sites (esp. in English) that will allow me to show my CD collection on the Internet?

I don't see the point, but I love it! Interesting idea. And Bere's site is cool indeed.:thumb:

Thanks but I didn't invent that  . I know there's something called 'discogs' (which is similar and in english).

Discogs.

Sign up a free membership and then just search by release or artist to "Add To Collection". Depending on how large your collection is, it'll probably take you an hour or so to add everything you have. You can contribute to the database by submitting your own stuff... I've added a number of New Order releases over the years.

Example of my collection.

Wow, that is really great. I could do that. I created an Excel file with my cd/iTunes collection. However it was like 600-650 individual entries. That would take me a while.

After hard seeking I found this website http://www.racksandtags.com in Eglish, which is like that German site, musik-sammlung.de, but unlike th eGerman one, the web design of racksandtags is merely bad, somewhat too iPod-ish. Less design, more functionality!

It says "It's very easy to join, and you can catalog 500 albums for free." 500 that's not much :D .

What's the point of this 'cd collection website' nonsense? Just to show off to others what they really don't give two shits about?

I am the webmaster of Racks and Tags website. Thanks for mentioning and linking to us. I found this thread on Google and couldn't resist to comment.

Since we're in the "showing CD collection" topic I would like to clarify few moments about Racks and Tags that may be unclear.

First, currently there is no limit on collection size - it is a kind of beta promotion that may last forever. Please ignore the 500 album text as it is not enforced and possibly will never be. There are bunch of users whose collections are in high 50,000 albums (imagine that!) and they don't pay a cent.

Second, the website actually offers more functionality that you can see because the data is uploaded using a rich client application.

And finally, the website is young and constantly evolving - many features that you think are missing, are actually in development and will be added soon!

If you wish to take a second look please feel free to contact me at support@racksandtags.com and I will be happy to guide you and answer any questions :) Also see my collection example in the signature.

Andrei (not exactly a fan, but very respectful of Joy Division and New Order)

Thanks for the respectful reply. Care by a webmaster like this makes me interested to at least gander at the site (as you can see I was very doubtful of the whole idea). hopefully your reply is an example of your website.:thumb:
