Alright, so how fast is your (windows)PC then?

Download and run aquamark3

It's free, and measures both processor and GPU (video card) performance.

FAC9000 scores 200,000 average (from 194 to 206 depending on how much I feel like toasting it's innerds).

It's a nice little demo to watch as well.

Please note: You must not have "vertical sync" turned on, because that will limit the max frames per second to your monitor's refresh rate (probably 60), and bugger your score up.

For those who usually fanny about with their video settings....go into your control panel and set "high performance" (makes about a 3% difference vs "high quality"), and ensure that stuff like Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering are set to "application controlled" or whatever your card's drivers call it. If you have no idea what the previous paragraph is about, then your settings are almost certainly fine as is.

Its not Vista friendly apparently.... but then I have no idea what yer ranting about anyways:laugh:

It's kinda weird....runs for me in XP, and Vista32. BUT 3dMark06, the other big benchmarker, runs in XP and Vista64, but not Vista32. Makes it hard to get a good speed comparison.

As stated, you do not need to know WTF I'm on about, you just need to run the bugger, and post the numners.

Vista users(ie, those afflicted with it as a permenant OS, not folks like me who keep a pet Vista, to run Crysis and to make me appreciate XP and Linux) should try it,it MAY work despite was it says about not working.

Run as administrator in Vista though.

(Colin, no running it on an oil company's 3 kilonode cluster....same goes for you and your space age kit Old Blue)

Ok, I'll bite. i'll get back with you when I get the numbers...

It MAY choke in Vista, but you can but try.

The rest of yous better start postin some numbers when you get back from work.

BTW, anyone outscores me.....you better have pics :D

Was an interesting simulation. Not sure how it compares with like computers, but hopefully not too bad for a laptop under $1000...

man did it struggle with the vegatation and massive overmap screens

I have Superfetch turned off, i wonder if it would help or hurt the systems score:confused2:

Just as I thought, Superfetch slows the computer down a bit...

I think we can content ourselves with the single number it reads out in bold type when finished.

But still, the full blurb at least shows what the machine is. Must paste my full output in here later.

As far as that goes, your video card is moderately cack. Either that or the machine has "issues", cos that's NOT a slow processor.

So it can't tell me why it's running like a ZX81

Guess I'll have to try deleting all the p0rn

Thought the Vid card would be rubbish. Never been into the PC gaming thing so it wasn't something I was worried about when I bought it.

Think I might be looking for a decent sound card to pop in soon, but got to get it running properly again first :\ohwell:

Pretty fucking slow most of the time these days.Takes ages to simply open a file usually. But it is getting on for 5 years old now.Just waiting for it to finally pack up and then i'll buy meself a laptop.

I could add 10k or so with some driver tweaking and minor overclocking but for the life of me I can't really be arsed. It'll do until the next big upgrade.

Thought it was going to melt the rear exhaust fan when running that one mental test. I crawled to < 3 FPS on that one. :nonono: Still pretty ok for a standard issue lappy though. Guaranteed this would fry my 2003 era AMD 1800+ XP box however.
