How the fuck do you do em?
Spent most of last night transferring music from me computer intae my music folder on the ipod.
But could I fuck work out how to drag and drop files to a playlist.
Help appreciated - and if yer one of the lucky one's going Barca next week, I'll get you a shandy 
There are two ways to do playlists. The old style, which you drag and drop ( I have about 3 of these on my iPod) and the Smart Playlists (of which i have about 15 on my iPod). So in short, the smart playlist is the best way to go.
The Smart Playlist gives the ability of the program to find what ever settings you put in it, and automatically compile a playlist... for instance, my "New Order+ Hits" playlist has the catagories "artist must have: -New Order -Electronic -The Other Two -Revenge -monacco" "song title can have w/Bernard Sumner - w/Peter Hook" "Rating is 4stars or more"... anytime I add a song with any of these in the title, artist name, or rating it automatically goes in the playlist...
...the options are endless and best of all, if you have a large collection, it is very easy to manage.
Go to "File" - "New Smart playlist".
The box will allow for you to enter a options with drop down menus and you entering the criteria.. I image its pretty straight forward.
If you click the "+" box, another field will show up, with the same drop down menus... this can be done endlessly.
Of course organising yer library is key to this type of playlist... but well worth the time and effort I assure you.

How does the drag and drop work? I opened a new playlist and tried to d&d but it was having none of it.
Not sure what you mean by "not showing up in yer library"...
but on the drag/drop issue... create a new one and open it. Then go back you yer "music" section that showas all yer music. Select some music and drag /drop it into the "folder" that you want in yer playlists...
...after a quick browse over the program I think I understand the "library" thing... that is just the heading for the different libraries you have (i.e. music, video, etc.)...
But I still say try out those smart playlist... maybe a bit intimidating, but easier to work with in the end...
It makes sense, but I didnae put the songs into the library - I put them into the music drop down section on my device.
It sounds like a pain in the arse to create playlists that way Ed. I cannae be arsed rating over 3000 songs etc...
I will use the Yamipod programme I downloaded, that's far easier. Just a simple case of drag and drop which even I can understand

Not sure how you put music on yer device and not the library, as the two are designed to work together, not only that but why?
You don't have to have ratings for the smartplaylist, it just one of the many options...
..its not hard to rate all yer songs though, I have 10,000... the best way I found was to rate them all 3 stars initially, then when you hear a good or bad one, rate it appropriately (you can do this on yer iPod)... no need to go over each one individually...
