in praise of drummers

Was it really necessary to spend 8 years studying it? One only had to look at the members of NO to work that out, surely?

Good choice of Drumbox.

Not sure NO made much use of that one though.

Pointless science diminishes learning as a whole.

What? Are you insane?

There's more fat on a chip. Most of them have to run round in the rain to get wet.

And as for jazz drummers, they are devoid of even flesh, the just sit there, skin and bone, playing 7 hemidemisemiquaver triplets in the time of 4, without appearing to move.

Sp12 wins every time though.

The way drummers use and conserve energy and their recovery rates is something that has interested me ever since I read an early report in this study, some years ago.

The report matched Clem's heartrate, breathing and so on to the set list, the rate he struck the drums and how many fills and improvisations he was dropping into his performance.

It does seem a bit too obvious a statement to spend any time at all trying to determine whether there is an athletic aspect to the work of a drummer but I bet this research is really interesting.

I thought that's the one they used on at least True Faith

Um, yeah, didn't make it clear, I was sort of thinking of the non-drummers of NO as the 'control sample'. Compare and contrast.

Given that exercise is supposed to be so good for your health, I wonder if drummers outlive other musicians? Didn't seem to be the case with Spinal Tap, I think (but then they didn't actually exist).

Hmmmh, why isnt my research as interesting as theirs? 'The supply chain network of an Aerospace OEM' anyone??

Apparently the Pope has today outed himself as a Catholic.

This comes on the same day that the National Union of Bears issued a public apology to those affected by years of shitting in the Woods.

Yes it's a good headline to entertain the dumb fuck knee jerk sneering anti-everything wankers of the world. But anyone prepared to read the little words underneath would see what the research was really about and, god forbid, learn something interesting.

I bet the research team have had to put up with all sorts of cruel comments during the 8 years they've toured with Blondie!
