This is particularly aimed at Jem.

How on earth do you manage to get on here during working hours? Do you have your own office? Is work slack at the moment - or are YOU the boss?

The office I 'worked' in was so open I couldnt access anything, which forced me to do some work. Not a pleasant experience. I have avoided it since.

My old boss was useless. And when it became evident she was useless she started blaming everyone else.

So a load of us got made redundnant (YAY! for the credit crunch!) and we have a leaving do in the Lass. I basically sat in the pub all day and got shitfaced, and then she came in and I just unleashed this huge speech on her listing all her flaws in front of a load of people she had to carry on working with.

Then she got made redundant so I sent her a email which basically consisted of hahahahah x 100000.

I am not on here all the time, but I sometimes have it on in the background while I'm working on spreadsheets and the like.

I am, however, trying to discipline myself to use the net at lunchtime only.

Cheeky bint

... and thinking about it, if you know I'm on a lot, then you must be too

I am the boss and I don't give a shit what anyone thinks anyway as I am leaving soon.

Mine's unbelievably great for a small business (about 17 of us).........very generous with the insurance, benefits and profit sharing. The nature of the work means that lazy workers lacking the self-discipline to insure that the work gets done in a timely manner never last long, nor do people who abuse the trust the boss places in us. Last person we hired ( a sales woman, just a year ago) has said that she's never been in a place that's as much fun to work as where she is now.

What? We need more like him.

My current boss, and all his superiors are the exact same as Liam describes, and I'd just LOVE to watch it all catch up with them.

It's a personal attack. There's no place for it in any office. Not exactly professional, is it?

If someone were to get up and mouth off at you at work would you (a) respect them, er, or (b) not respect them? Simple, shirley?

And can you imagine how you'd feel if you got an abusive email through from a colleague because you'd been made redundant?! That one just beggars belief. I'm shaking my head at that one. It's just not acceptable. :nonono:

If the party in question had previously made my job harder, and had ultimately caused my own dismissal? It's turnabout surely? and therefor fair play.

Doing what he did to someone cos you don't like them, that's being a cunt. But making an idiot aware that they are an idiot is a public service, and pointing out that as ye sow, so shall ye reap, seems fair enough too.

You've obviously been lucky enough to work under people who have the same high standards of professionalism to which you aspire, however, some of us do actually work for blithering idiots/thieves.

An example of the professional leadership skills of my current boss.......he hands out disciplinaries to everyone because they arrived 15 mins early (company policy prevents us arriving sooner), and their machines took 20 mins to log in (an operation which should take 20 seconds). Then the same boy, comes in at 11, fucks off at 12, and fills his timesheet in until 7.

Professionalism can only be practised where all concerned are of a like level of proficiency in it.

Our company is strict as fcuk with internet use - my screen is constantly half sized for a quick get-away should anyone walk in our office or approach me to do some work, a work filter blocks almost everything, but amazingly enough the two sites I browse most are not, this place and CelticMinded :thumb:

I won't go in to too many details, but someone that i used to work with found out that he was about to get the sack for being late (again). His response was to slam a 45k hearse into a 35k limo.

This event made the local newspaper,as the offending employee was the son of one of Britains most famous comedians.

Anyone here from Luton!!

No. But he might know the firm and the person involved. I wasn't there at the time of the incident but i understand that it caused chaos, not to mention a hefty repair bill.

No, I'm sorry, I just don't get it, I think this is still unacceptable. Read the original comments again, Cambo .... basically belittling a woman in a pub in front of her workmates, and then sending her an abusive message when she too lost her job? That's just not on, full stop. Doesn't matter what she may or may not have done. Li should rise above it.

This woman was directly responsible for seven of us losing our jobs. Now I was personally very happy about it dont get me wrong. But the others had mortgages and kids and all that. The company could have easily survived if she had pulled her finger out, but instead all she did was produce checklists. And yet for the last few months she sat us down in monthly meetings and tell su she was doing stuff to sort it out and "couldnt disclose it"

And then after we had left, kept ringing me and some of the others up to ask us about things.

As far as abusing her in the pub. Well, considering we were in The Lass, which was opposite my flat, it was fairly obvious that I would be quite pissed. Personally, I found it slightly galling that she would turn up to the leaving do of seven people she was directly responsible for losing their jobs. And I will say this, there was not one word directed at her that was in anyway false. Now, considering all she did was lie to us, maybe she has issues with the truth. But I admit, I saw an opportunity to get things off my chest, if she cant handle that, well I dont care.

As for the email. Maybe a touch harsh. but her massive incomeptence was more than a touch harsh on us lot.

and i care even less about it today. As I just got accepted for my PCGE. :)

Right, now I'm lost. I thought you sold mortgages for a living, and you were heavily reliant on commission. So you're job was basically fcut given the current climate we're in ... or are you blaming your old boss for the entire credit crunch?!

Good luck with the teaching. You're probably gonna have to develop a little more subtlety in your approach to dealing with people who fcuk you off though!! The average 16-year old in this country probably won't think twice about pulling a blade on you if you mouth off at them, no matter how badly they need telling!

Not really. We could still the stuff that we could do two years before, before the sub prime market got ahead of itself and starting offering ridiculous products. And we were doing a truckload of Prime stuff.
