itunes question

since i just had my HD replaced, i had to download itunes on to my computer again. however, this seems to have fucked up my library. according to apple, since my iPod is synced with 'another computer' (i.e. my old hard drive), itunes will only let me add the songs i purchased from my iPod on to my new itunes library.

my question is this: is there any way to keep my entire iPod library (not just the purchased songs) and prevent itunes from deleting the other songs from my iPod when first sync to my 'new' computer? is my old library somewhere in cyberspace?

Not really understanding your question clearly, so forgive me if it doesn't answer it. But I think you are saying that all your music is on your iPod and not your harddrive anymore? If so, try this: http://www.imtoo.com/ipod-computer-transfer.html I haven't used this program, but a couple of my friends swear by it.

You can do it in iTunes as well, but your harddrive folders will look a mess. When you hook up the iPod you "enable harddrive" in the iPod tab. Then go in My Computer and view hidden folders in the 'iPod' drive. You'll find your music in one folder, but also has them in about 300 subfolders, with letters and numbers as names with no real discernable organization. You can copy and paste this into your harddrive. This is probably the fastest option. It MIGHT be possible for iTunes to organize them for you once on your harddrive, but I've never tried it so not sure how well it would do it (though theoretically it should do it).
