Anyone else ever watched this?

I can't stop using the word cocksucker now.

What's so fascinating about it is that Deadwood really existed and all these foul-mouthed folk (particularly Calamity Jane - Doris Day never swore like that!) actually existed too. You cocksuckers.

Dunno why they made Al Swearengen a 'limey' though, when he wasn't in real life. Could Ian McShane not do an American accent? Sounds like he's certainly attempting to sound American to me. Does he not sound like that to a US audience?

Fascinating stuff. An inordinate amount of swearing and a history lesson - sort of - to boot. Oh, and lots of drugs, executions and whoring, natch. Perfect TV, you cocksuckers

Just finished watching the two seasons of Rome and was thinking of giving Deadwood a go. Seems it would have a similar feel to it though, so was going to give my self a breather before doing so... have you watched Rome?

I watched series 2 on DVD but never got round to watching the other two series, there is some amount of swearing in it.

An absolute fave show of mine, gotta love the fact that one of the first English words that Swearengen was teaching the Chinese was cocksucker; the quick way in which Wu learned the value of the word was quite amusing.

A well-written show as well, the dialog of the characters is what drew me in at first, I always found myself chuckling at the incongruous mix of profanity and delicately flowered speech. Still, at a variety of times in the series, "cocksucker" conveyed much more meaning than any number of ornate speeches could.

Gerald McRaney did a nice job puncturing his "nice" image from being on Major Dad and Simon & Simon as the villainous cocksucker Hearst; I know some friends who were a bit disappointed that the producers didn't take a bit of historical license and wind up feeding the cocksucker to Wu's pigs.........but at least he (and his henchmen) bled some in their efforts; the eyeball gouging scene was classic! (as was Al passing his kidney stone :eek: :faint: :laugh: )

Sadly, there doesn't appear to be any chance of a couple of two-hour movies to wrap up the loose ends at the end of the series, but that seems to be the nature of these types of series. The realization that we won't get that reminds this hoople head that he needs a cocksucking drink right now.

Exactly what i was thinking.Got me confused because the only Deadwood tv series i knwo of was the one with Lovejoy in.Never watched it but i remember seeing adverts for it around, like you said, 2004.So this is an entirely different series with the same name? :scratch:
