'take a break' magazine makes me pray for a vengeful old testament god to wipe out mankind, for surely we are beyond redemption.

Yes, 'baby murder'. It's a phrase that's been used round here by at least one person who I'll give the benefit of the doubt to by not mentioning that his online name is Tex.

I very much doubt anyone bothered to complain about that, mind, though elsewhere on this delightfully ideologically confused website someone has kicked up a minor stink because I used the phrase "rancid spunk" to describe the aimless rancid spunk that is the New Order reissues.

Community. You gotta love it.

I don't recall if I've ever used the phrase "baby murder" here. But, since you've opened the door counselor, how else would you describe what happens to an unborn baby during an abortion?

Tex, without wishing to devalue the life of a fetus, there's no such thing as an "unborn baby." There are babies, which exist only outside the womb, i.e., they have been born, and there are fetuses, which exist only inside the womb, i.e., they haven't been born. Your entire argument appears to be premised upon a non-existent, nonsensical entity-- the "unborn baby"-- that was created solely for rhetorical purposes. Had you instead said "fetus murder," you'd be far more accurate in your description of the life being ended.

You can engage in semantic gymnastics all you like. "Fetus" is a technical term for "unborn baby". Expectant mothers don't get asked how their "fetus" is doing. When mom and dad go for the sonogram to determine the sex of the unborn baby, they don't walk away from the doctors office saying, "We're having a feamle feuts!"

Based on your post, it would seem that we are in agreement that there is human life growing inside the womb of the mother. The question is, "What is our threshold for killing that life?"

I don't know how many people here have been to a neonatal unit at a hospital, but babies are now surviving outside the womb at 26 weeks. Once you see that child, you can't tell me it was a "fetus" one moment and a baby the next.

PS

As for words or phrases used for "rhetorical purposes", I can say the same about "fetus", "right to choose", "reproductive rights", etc.

Oh, for fuck's sake. What the fuck is a "fetus"??? Isn't he a character in "Peanuts"???

Same for capital punishment, the death penalty actually helps decrease our footprint for global warming:evil4:

Not really "ideological" here, though, is it? More like some dumb fuck thinking (a) he could/should be able to decide what women do with their bodies and (b) the selfsame dumb fuck lacking the basic sensitivity to realise that that, simply by the law of averages, there must be quite a few posters on here who've had actually had abortions themselves and might - just might - be a little upset at being dubbed a "murderer".

reminds me of the Hypocrisy of the republican campaign. They whine when media focuses on the knocked up daughter, but they have no problem interfering with women's reproductive rights. I agree children should be of limits but the same goes with women's bodies.

 ... and the worst thing is, if I'm at the Dentists and it's there, I read it. Then feel dirty afterwards.

If your comments are directed at me, my past postings were only showing the hypocricy in Comrade's use of vocabulary. I don't think ALL abortions are out of line. For instance, my wife had to have two C-sections when having our children. She simply can not have another child, or she most likely will die in birth. In this instance, and many others where the mother's life is at stake, a woman has been raped, and many other such exceptions I have no issue with abortion... its just that this is not what the majority of abortions are about.

I do find it a bit perplexing how the same people who bang on about 'woman's rights' to kill the fetus inside, which is truely a victim to anything, are also the same ones against the death penalty to people that have chosen thier path in life:nuts:

You know what, I have no inclination to go on about this... I was only trying to state the hypocrisy in Comrade's vocabulary not actually get into an abortion right/wrong debate which is so utterly pointless....

what makes me sad is that I got sucked into this stupid thing:cry:

I'll say no more on the matter...

But what really makes me depressed is how MCcain got sucked into the whole Christian conservative movement. I'm fast losing respect for him, as i don't recognize him anymore.

off subject-

Guilani was truly scary yesterday. It was like a lynching mob. And when did he become an expert on security?

Remember Guilani was about to get kicked out of office before the towers fell... it saved his career and launched it in a whole new way. Never liked the guy. There are a bunch in the Republican party I don't care for... I really would like another Reagan, not a Guilani and Romney, who I think is really good is Huckabee, but unfortunately he has the albatross of being a prior preacher around his neck which makes people jump to conclusions befoer even listening to him.

I think your issues Jon, with McCain, are correct... it is unfortunate in order to win an election you HAVE to have appeal to the base, which McCain never really has done... he really has no choice in the matter if he wants to win... but the same can be said for Obama, he's trying to appeal to so many in a fractured party that I think his abilty to send a clear message gets muddled.... maybe these are the reasons only two other senators have ever reached the White House....

To your a) - what control? Control over hair color, breast size, tattoos, piercings?

To your b) - a close inspection in the mirror will reveal who used the term "murder" first in this thread.

The fact that fuckface McCain and pussylips Palin may be POTUS and VPOTUS makes my skin crawl.

Hopefully some brave patriot will have the balls, a high-powered rifle and two bullets in case this actually comes to pass in November.
