Its very good, but its clearly a band faithfully covering a favourite song of their youth, and covering it while drunk, and not ever planning to commit it to record.

I just thought it was hilarious when I first heard it, just so funny, thats why I like it

You'd miss out loads of NO/JD covers if it was recorded only, so no problem there. The Radiohead one is prolly my current fave (cos i just clicked it), although i do like the live versions of No Fit State by Hot Chip, and Star Guitar by the Chems with their snippets of Temptation.
I dont really listen to cover versions, and here's why.
A band should not be judged in any way on a cover version. Arcade Fires version of Age of Consent wasnt very good (a trillion times better than the one that we got at the Ritz in October though), but it doesnt mean they're nto a great band. Morrissey has done a load of covers, some good (A Song from Under the Floorboards) some bad (Street Life, from what I am led to believe) but ultimately, in the grand scheme of things, no one cares.
as far as the board concerned, cover versions (and remixes) just seem to satisfy the desire to keep on listening to the same song over and over and over again in as many diffrent forms. It wouldnt surprise me if somneone on here said that the aforementioned of Ceremony is the only worthwhile thing that Radiohead have ever done, which is just plain bullshit.
Its like i'm sure there are people who said that they're favourite album of 2003 (or whenever it was) was Community. Because it featured a load of New Order songs. These people are geeks and really should get a life.
I rather like the Chemicals' little pastiche of temptation. There's something "more new order than new order" about it, brings a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye (not least because Star Guitar itself's a fucking masterpiece).

Live version (as heard on the "American EP") goes on for a lot longer than that - about 8+ minutes or so...
I love cover versions. I'm always interested to hear how another band hears a song.

One could probably do a 'best and worst cover of LWTUA' poll, so many have there been.
I like the Swans versions. Also the Stanton Miranda one on End isn't bad, if you tolerate the squeaky voice. Wondering if I should be embarrassed at really liking Nerina Pallot's version (sounds pretty similar to how you'd imagine a Tori Amos version would). Not a big fan of Squarepusher's, or the Cure's.
But the big question is, which version is worse, Fall Out Boy or Paul Young?
