The Alcohol Years (slight return)

[NB - This is really a DR topic, bit given that said forum is now part of more illiterate sections of the United States it seemed to make more sense to post here]

I was feeling characteristically maudlin last night and re-watched Carol Morley's film about drinking and shagging in 80s Mancland. What I want to know is: who is the short guy she interviews with the zipped-up top who looks not unlike Ian Broudie, and what band was he in?
