Anyone know how I could obtain this or if there is another application that's similar?

I'd appreciate any help!

Thanks... Another question ...If I download this on my laptop and then save the work to a memory stick, would I be able to open it in microsoft office on a different PC?

Does that make sense? My brain hurts..a lot!

It can save as .doc yes.....but saving as something more "normal" like html is more sensible, total compatibibilty that way.

Used to take MS-Turd documents for a certain nooler, load them in OO.O and then save them again.....it would fix every one of Turd's formatting fuckups.

If you can wait until next Wednesday, I can give you what you want, providing you have Windows XP. I think if you've got Vista you're fucked.

And yes, you can open Office documents all over the place.

You can download free readers for Office docs from t'net. With these you can view but not edit XL, Word, Powerpoint etc files.

Pah, Emacs RULES....it's not an editor, it's a fucking OS.

(I kid[1], I'm a vi man myself, even use it in windos, but I only know like three commands for it LOL)

I use Notepad in work to take quick notes.....those I want to save often end up with :wq as the last characters ;)

One other killer thing about OO.O is that you can export as .pdf.....so you can pdf word files, or web pages or whatever. It also makes an amazingly good job of exporting excel files as html (handy when I wanted to put work's rota online without days of fucking with web OLE bunk).

[1] but not about emacs being a full OS, it is. Mail, news, IDE and even GAMES....in a text editor....fabulous! (just so complex it defies all attempts to use it).

I have a copy of Office Sandra, all be it 2003 I think.

When saving files to transfer to another PC you're probably best to do it in a couple of formats, just to make sure.

I've been using a knocked off copy of Office 2003 since er, 2003 so you're very welcome to a copy of that

I have heard decent things about OpenOffice so I wouldn't necessarily dismiss it out of hand. Plus you could just download it straight away.

Then again, why get something for free when you can steal it :evil4:

Thank you all for your help and advice.

The problem is that I am starting a distance learning course in October and I must submit my assignments electronically and the college have specified to submit them in Office 2007 version or earlier! Grrrr
