Kinda hard to make your case, after you have sent immature personal hate messages to people.

To get back on topic, have you made any attempt to get a job yet? Do you leech off a roommate or something?

Ever notice how stress can sometimes make you more of an asshole than you really are?

J

Hey,you said it.

What's the big deal about knowing someone's IP address?

(That's a real question, I don't know)

Col, his IP address is the way to his computer. The right people can use it to get in and do all sorts of shitty stuff to your computer, take stuff, delete stuff, set up viruses, trojan horses, worms, and just monitor your moves....

His Holiness, The Pope wrote: I've removed your IP address. But it just goes to show, threats = just consequences.

And what makes your consequences "just" Pope? You could have just taken it off and let it lie, but of course you have to flex yer cyber-muskle of 'mod' and act cerebral as usual. That wasn't justice, that was being a fucking retard, as you usually are.

as Uncle Ben always said: "With great strength comes great responsibility".

Fucking act like a mod or give up the laurels....

You heard that quote in a film and you've been aching to use it on here haven't you?

Is it just me or are you completely missing the point in every respect?

Privately messaging someone and threatening them with a kicking is far worse than briefly posting an IP address. Especially if the person threatening the kicking is also promising to find your IP and "fuck your computer up" himself. If someone threatened me with that I wouldn't give a toss if their computer spontaneously combusted.

Down off the moral high horse methinks EdelBrock, NH got the warning he deserved. After the way NH has simply "been" on these boards not even taking into account the nasty, threatening PMs he's been hurling around why - precisely - should anyone give a fuck about his internet security? I know I don't.

And, anyway, isn't the IP Address displayed that of the ISP and not the private computer?

Probably. I can see IP addresses in the footie forum, but dunno what my home one comes up as.

Surely most of us just post from work anyways!

Regarding your OP. If you have any savings at all try and be entrepreneurial. Any product or service that involves a bodily orifice is usually a fairly steady market.

While I can understand yer point Ally, it simply isn't right. It only seems justified depending on which side of the table you are. Sometime back there was someone who did that email thing with Martin's boss. At the time there were alot of words flying around, so I'm sure the person felt justified in doing it. Everyone was up in arms about it then, as it was an incoprehensible action. Posting someone's ip address is the same way.

I am by no way taking NH side on this. Threats have no place here, but that's what bannings are for.

There's a world of difference between posting someone's IP address online (and it's not difficult to find someone's IP address without magic moderator powers, anyway) and trying to get someone in deep trouble with his boss. Those with plenty of computer know-how will tell you that the IP address thing is pretty much an empty threat, hence my willingness to post it. If it had the capacity to result in real danger to his computer, I wouldn't have posted it. But you can be an alarmist, as usual, if it makes you feel better.

Filipinos are certainly no strangers to unemployment. Those cab drivers will smile despite pimping their own daughters :(
