I'm mainly starting this new thread just for Cambo
But it was a good debate... much more interesting than the last Presidential debate, that's for sure. It will be very interesting see how this solidifies either side... each brought completely different debating skills to the table.. one by feeding the audiences hunger with a beefy steak, and the other with a warm apple pie

no ,i was too young. its seems to be a trend around the city with the kids. Not frankie goes to hollywood tshirts but ones that are def. influenced by them.
I say it was a draw more or less. Biden more substantial but then the McClain means "Change" except without changing much of anything argument Palin had to go with is pretty wishywashy. Palin conducted herself quite well with only a few nervous moments and she is as cute as a button. One still wonders if she has a hardcore bitchy fundamental christian side, but she comes of as pretty genuine if quite vague.
I'd like to hear an explanation of the "Drill here, drill now, pay less" Republican mantra. Companies will drill enough oil for US consumption from US territory and do it for a lower price than the world market? Pure nonsense and economic fantasy. Maybe the US gov't can borrow more billions from China to subsidize the oil companies so people can still now afford to drive large SUVs and full size pickups. Future generations will figure something out.

Its hard for me to see exactly who "won" this debate. I think it really has to do with what someone is looking for in a candidate. What I found really interesting is that the tables seemed completely reversed for this debate as the last presidential debate. McCain's shared the same topic strengths/weaknesses as Biden and Obama shared the same topic strengths/weaknesses of Palin. Somehow Obama has (by medai purposes) chalked up the first win, not by beating McCain, but holding his own and not allowing a large victory by McCain. In the same regard Palin did the same thing with Biden..... interesting....
On the Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less matra... the only way I could see it being cheaper is there are far less transportation costs and no tarrifs to pay... will this savings be passed on to the consumer? I'd be wary of that, but it could be possible...

I had an issue with how people were judging this debate from the jump. Palin's expectations are so low that she can't lose??? Cmon! That's like putting Jay Z vs Nelly in a freestyle battle and saying Nelly won simply because he was able to bust some rhymes.
Palin did not answer the moderators questions.....she talked about what she wanted to talk about and was basically John McCain's cheerleader. Biden shut her down on several occasions. Yes, he mainly attacked McCain, but he ingeniously put Palin against McCain on a few issues and exposed their disagreements. Biden also answered the questions. Biden played it straight. Just down to business. He exposed the ridiculous $5000 dollar credit for health care proposal. Buy your own healthcare, which taxes your current work healthcare costs, plus health care packages are more than double that! Very stupid idea. Like most of John's ideas.
Sarah was talking about "hockey moms" and just being a moron. Constantly wwanting to go back to talking about energy, regardless what the topic was....Biden was the clear winner and I don't even see any legitimate argument for that....Biden was the substance, Sarah was the "style".

Well polls and news say Obama somehow won the first debate by just "holding his own"... kinda the same standards and outcome... but you can now cry because it doesn't benefit yer own candidate

Helping the - Oh, it's got to be about job creation too. Shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americas. And trade. We've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive scary thing. But 1 in 5 jobs being created in the trade sector today. We've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.
