I went to school with a lad who looked just like fat bob. No matter what he did with his hair it would spring up and look back-combed. Somewhat rotund, he was pale with really red lips and dark stary eyes and no matter how he dressed he would look scruffy. Goffs used to come up to him and start chatting, complementing him on the way he looked and he got more than a fair share of abuse from normal people. The funny thing was he HATED the Cure and was a bit of a lad himself. Really confident around people and a very clever guy. He loved football, always chasing girls, drank loads of beer, wouldn't back down in a row. Just had the misfortune to look like a navel-gazing, sensitive, shy goffboy with a poor hairdo and bad makeup.

"Oi Smiffy", I used to shout at him. "Fuck off" he would reply.

Oh what laughs we had

Apparently Mike may have to step down as a mod after it emerged that he and another party (believed to be a bald Chorlian), left messages on fat bob's answerphone claiming to have done unspeakable things with his gerbil, "solitude".

The way 'Disentegration' fades out in the last 30 seconds or so is very well executed. Brilliant instrumental sections.

Robert is great, but that self titled album was crap

They deserve it. The Cure have made some brilliant albums and written some brilliant songs. And they are a brilliant live act, really really good in concert.

Are they as innovative as New Order? No. But in thier way, they are just as good.

Never understodd the rift between Cure, New Order, and Depechr Mode fans here in the UK.

In the US, if you like one of those three groups, you tend to like all of them.

I like all three of them. Seen all three of them live too.

:abovelol: Yeah, Brilliant!

:evil4:

Pity that good bands recieve these dubious honours many years past their sell-by date. (NO included of course). Worst memory of The Cure was The Brit Awards circa 1990? Band of the year IIRC even though they had no record out that year then performed the gruesome 'Never Enough' which was greeted by the award host, Roger Daltrey 'that's what I love - real rock'n'roll' :barf: Saying that, they were 'honoured' with 5 star album reviews from NME for their first four albums - rightly so. There were moments way back when where The Cure's music was more sublime than any other. Great respect to them, it does irke me when they are constantly slated here but I can live with it.

1st album - just about ok but seventeen seconds faith pornography disingtration - bloody fantastic.miles above the mark and always will be wish - ermm ok ish

i gave up a bit after that

rest of cure very so so. what a great act in general and great live as well some classic singles in there as well 1979-1990 alone deserves this award no actually A FOREST alone makes them worthy of the award :thumb:

Anyone listened to the new one? 4:13 Dream (WTF w/ the title?:confused2: )

Picked it up only b/c saw it for a Ten Spot at BestBuy. Not that bad! Brighter and almost more "bouncy" than anything we've heard in awhile. Daresay first thing I've remotely liked since "Wish".

BTW, when are they giving "Disintegration" the ole 2 CD remastering/re-release? That would be fantastic.

Sometime this year supposedly, I'd looked it up on google meself, and apparently thats what was said. In interviews I'd read, before 4:13 Dream, Robert talked about working on the remaster. I also heard wish might be remastered in 5.1.
