This week, I have mainly been watching.........

It occurs to me that many persons and other lifeforms heregathered, are, like myself, predisposed to "binge" television.....by which I mean that we find the whole business of a 43 minute doses at 7 day intervals offensive, and would rather just download/video/sky+/tivo/buy/rent a whole series and get stuck into it in it's entirety.

Some shows (Babylon5 springs to mind) only work at all if you do it this way.

Anyway, I'll go first.......

My last couple were Red Dwarf, and the latest series of CSI (LV and NY.....it's a vice of mine that I picked up in work from a colleague's laptop).

Currently I may have bitten off more than I can chew.

Having collected all the FIA season reviews of F1 AND WRC, I have now sourced almost every grand prix (mainly full coverage, some highlighrs) since about 1982. I've only 82,83 and bits of 84, and I'm losin the plot :D

the BBC planet earth series. I know the earth is about to explode but really do appreciate the lack of agenda regarding environmental issues in this series. Also, the fantastic camera work cannot be denied.

Downloaded,then properly caned every series of 'The Sopranos' and 'The Wire' in big block viewing. Felt a strange kind of grief,when there was no more to watch...

Stuff I've never seen,in the locker still...

Prison Break 1,2,3. Big Deal Series 2 Heroes 1,2. Whole series of Dr Who circa 85(Sylvester Macoy,the second best Doctor,after Tennant)

Had them ages,don't know when I'll get round to watching them.

watched seasons 1 and 2 of Dexter borrowed box sets

would like to see if the Wire is as good as the critics say

will watch Breaking Bad in a block

would love to revisit Cracker 1 and 2

It's perfect for this kind of binge viewing. Primarily because there are so many characters,really loads of characters...that in order to keep up with who's who and doing what,it's best to get completely immersed in it..

Been watching alot of House lately. Love his ironic wit. Since I started watching at the third series, I've been force feeding myself the 1st and 2nd series, while watching the new 4th series inbetween.

just got meself a part time job at a record store that aint HMV, so gonna see if staff discount applies and get a some box sets. no idea where you can get these shows online... still a bit of a technophobe/luddite well maybe not a luddite I would like to learn a bit more what this bloody laptop does

You actually do that?

It takes discipline,but I'm a believer in the Land of Love..and in watching things cronologically or not at all.

I deliberately don't watch something if I've missed the first few..safe in the knowledge,that it's all on demand,somewhere, nowadays.Brilliant.

as for OZ got into it when it as on terrestial telly years back, on well late at night, but they kept moving it around the schedules and I kinda gave up.

remember the shock of seeing ' marigold' out of alf garnett in it and thinking fuck he looks a tough fucker it can't be

also just recorded all of I Claudius, shit lighting shit sets..... absolutely riviting stuff though, the power of a good story well told and well acted. to be reccomended

He lectured me shitless about 'I Claudius' being far superior,for 40 days and 40 nights.. I've never seen it,but I know most of the script now.

I should watch it,mind.I love Roman stuff.

well worth it mate, first few minutes I was a bit WTF, but you soon get into it and it's flaws ( dated sets etc ) fade away. saw first couple of Rome but got sidetracked, gonna watch in a few sessions

I've been watching House and CSI, (Vegas and Miami). My friend has gotten me into Dexter but I have to watch the previous seasons still.

It's not a bug it's a feature. The Beeb, back in those days, considered television to be theatre with a distant audience, so sets and lighting are done to stage standards. If you think they're pushing their luck with I Claudius.....you need to refresh your memories of Blake's 7!

Jeff's ex-employer had the first two seasons of X-Files on sale for 20 dollars, so I picked them up in an attempt to see what it was I used to love about the show, before it was continually moved around by Faux all over the schedule.

Most shows I'm the same way, but House's backround stories are more amusing than forming a strong plot. I finally saw the episode where his original teammates abandon him and the few episodes leading up to it... it had me scratching my head for the past year... one minute everyone's working happy then everyone is gone...

I read the book years back... simply an amazing read... wish all history books were written in that fashion, kids wouldn't fall alseep in class...

didn't know it was a show... after finishing Rome, I have had a hunger for something Roman, I, Claudius would definately fit that ticket... thanks

Thats where i first seen it as well,late night on Channel 4 (burroo TV )had sorta forgotten all about it,then the father in law mentioned he had the first 4 series on box sets,was hammering them very soon after that,then bought 5 and 6 from ebay.Class viewing

I have been quite enjoying Stephen Fry flouncing his amiable way around the States with gentle wit masking (as ever) barbed commentary.

I particularly like the way he meets & befriends good Southern folks who clearly have absolutely no idea that he's gay....
