To spot a Christmas tree in someone's lounge window - flashing fairy lights - the works!

Are we allowed to discuss Christmas?

  1. Yes.

  2. If it does not offend a member of the "community".

Only to discuss bell-ends who have their tree up half way through Nov.

Not seen one yet other than in shops, where you kinda expect it of the gouging cunts.

Here's a mission.......

See if you can still buy LED treelights this year. Two years ago, all the rage, last year, suddenly a bit thin on the ground. Now call me a cynical old twat, but I think that might JUST be to do with the fact that the average LED has a life expectancy of 100,000 hours use, whereas the average incansescant xmas tree bulb has a life of about 3 days. In other words, you need only ever buy LED sets once, instead of buying a new incandescant set every year or two in order to avoid 4 hours of dead bulb roulette when you're putting your tree up.

hmmm...I put my Christmas lights up on the house the Saturday after Halloween, but I've not turned them on yet...

The tree and the rest of the yard decorations won't go up until the Friday after Thanksgiving...

and I am of the opinion what we can discuss Christmas to your heart's content...anyone that is offended by it can fuck right off...

Hell I'd line up every Christian in the world just to see how many I could shoot through with various types of weapon, and even I think Christmas is a good idea, there's such a thing as not tossing the baby out with the bathwater you know.

Why is it always whiney white people who bang on about how xmas decorations offend such-and-such? when the such-and-such's du jour, are not in the slightest offended (thus lending weight to my argument that pathetic PC activities do more to increase racial tensions than almost anything else).

I was just kidding...

Do you really think I care if someone is offended by Christmas?

I purchased a shit load of the LED lights in 2006...got them in the days after Christmas for 90% off their pre-Christmas price...my fucking house looks like an airport runway when I've got them put up...

It's LOVERLY!!!

Why are lights now designed in a loop? They are a real pain, especially when you need 2-3 sets......what was wrong with one long string of them?

Nah...no music...just an inflatable Santa Claus, penguin, and a couple of snowmen...

the music would simply be TOO MUCH!!!

The amazing thing is that I can finally enjoy holidays again, since I got out of the retail gig...This is actually the first Christmas that I've looked forward to in years...

The main problem with the LEDs though is that they are not replacable. One burns out and you have a permanent hole in yer line. When they can figure out this problem, then LEDs might come back... but I have to admit, I just don't like the look of LEDs compared to incandesents... they just don't look as warm and inviting...

The sets we have use standard rectangular package LED's. The only modification from standard is that the tails are wrapped through a socket fitting.....so even when the replacement lamps they provide run out, I can fit standard ones by wrapping them into the socket of a dead one (no solder, the tails are just folded through holes).
