Don't think I'm too early with this, not expecting anything of worth to come out round about Chrimbo.

I think it's been an ace year for albums. I could easily have picked 10 while last year I'd have struggled to pick a Top 3. So off we go....

  1. Los Campesinos!
    'Hold On Now Youngsters'

  2. Friendly Fires
    'Friendly Fires'

  3. The Teenagers
    'Reality Check'

  4. Los Campesinos!
'We Are Beuatiful, We Are Doomed' (last band to realease 2 albums in 8 months????)

  5. Glasvegas
    'Glasvegas'

No 'honourable mentions' please. Dead easy. Post your Top 5 then stop. If I'd wanted a Top 10 or a list of honourable mentions I would've called this thread;

'Top 10 Albums of 2008 Or Your Top 5 Albums Of 2008 And Any Other Ones You Thought Were Good '

Didn't Ladytron have a record out this year?

If so I vote:

1 - Technique Remastered 2 - Lowlife remastered 3 - Movement remastered 4 - Power Corruption and Lies. Remastered 5 - Ladytron

Edit: And my most favourite of all was X Marks Destination

Can't put them in an order, but here goes:

The Music - Strength in Numbers Cold War Kids - Loyalty to Loyalty Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires Ladytron - Velicifero TV on the Radio - Dear Science

Not much different from other people's choices I guess. I'm not going to be the first to mention Elbow either.

getting back to the idea of a concise top five....

NEON NEON Stainless Style NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS Dig Lazarus Dig GLASVEGAS Glasvegas PENDULUM In silico THE LANCASHIRE HOT POTS Pot Sounds

the last one is not a foodie wind up, they're kind of a novelty folk act, made/makes me smile at the moment, fav download was He's Turned Emo by the Lancs Hotpots which has a pop at simply red and fallout boy in the same verse, again it made me laugh. possible future what was I thinkin etc, but that happened with Northside too.... hey ho

Nope, not having Kings Of Leon this year. They should have just stopped and retired/split after 'Fans' last year. They'll never top that.

Have We Are Scientists brought out an album this year? That single where the 2 blokes are arguing over the girl and the dog in the flat in the video is possibly my single of the year.

oh hnag on, what about Vampire Weekend? I've liked a couple of their songs this year. And apparently their album is ace.So i'll go for that one.Although i haven't heard it in full. And Portishead's album simply for the fact Beth sings about being taken away by white horses.Which is great on a bitterly cold and snowy April day.

  1. Keane - Perfect Symmetry

A big disappointment from their first two albums (though I've only given this one Saturday night listen so far).

  1. Cut///Copy - In Ghost Colours

Some great songs on this album, including Hearts On Fire.

  1. Billy Bragg - Mr Love & Justice

The protest song O' Freedom is an outstanding piece of music.

  1. Jaytech - Everything Is OK

An interesting electronic album.

I haven't bought the latest Pendulum album, but that would had probably have been the fifth.

I don't usually buy many albums, but am looking forward to a superb year in 2009, with Simple Minds, U2 and Depeche Mode all schedueled to release albums next year.
