another New Order site......... coming soon.........

I may be going slightly mad in my old age,but i have decided to build my own New Order based website.

As many of you know i have an extremely large and diverse New Order collection and i thought it was about time that i shared it.

I dont intend to take any information from new order online, world in motion or the niagra discography.

I would like to concentrate on the releases and promotional items and hopefully put pictures on my site that people have never seen before.

Therefore,i would like to ask members of the forums to send me anything that you may think would be of interest. Incidently once the site is up and running,i will share any info with the three main sites listed above,and to individuals,subject to copyright control of course!

I am not trying to compete with nool in any way shape or form,this IS the main web resource for New Order fans and always will be.

However,the site may take quite a while to construct as i have 600+ items to photograph,catalog and post pictures of so please be patient.

As the site will be a free site i dont really yet know how much space i will have available.

I am currently led to beleive that the more hits i get on the site then the more webspace is made available to me.

I dont think that i would want a forum to be honest doc. As far as forums are concerned this is the place to talk bollocks and always will be. There is a facility on the site to leave comments but thats about it.

It may take YEARS to complete cos i'm a lazy bastard!

But seriously, get a proper domain name (try 123reg.co.uk) and a decent hosting package. I have this ingrained fear of services like you one you seem to be using, nasty habbit of crawling, or just vanishing overnight with all your hard work piped straight out to the bitbucket.

Not sure about their hosting as I've not used it, but they defo don't fuck you on the registration.

Your domain may still be in limbo Col, you may be able to get it back if the squatters and farmers haven't nicked it with the hope of selling it back to you for £3m.

You blatantly need a proper music oriented forum. DR and the cock forum dont really cut it if one wants to talk about things like software, gear, and other related bands.

I'm sorry if the madrass taught you so poorly you needed basic concepts such as an off topic forum explained to you.

As for discussions of gear etc....discuss them on DR (or here if you still can't grasp the whole "off topic" thing), the reason such discussions fall on their arses is that there about 5 music geeks on the site, the rest of them think music comes from CD's, end of. Go to another venue and the same will be the case. Have you tried memtioning New Order on music geek sites to see if that yields better results (apologies if mentioning a scientific concept offends you).

Suggest using Adobe Dreamweaver to make the site, lots of options to help make the site. If you need a copy I could burn you one, though mine is version 6.

Easy to use yes, attractive results, yes.....decent code....LOL Have you SEEN how big DW can make even the simplest text+images page?

If you have any HTML at all, I would reccommend you seek out Quanta+ Or Faildows equivalent if no windows version exists.

It's sort of half way between Dreamweaver and doing it "By hand", it just pops tags in for you to put the shit between, it's rather good fun, and a real help for those of us who can never remember the syntax for tables :D

Of course if you want bells, whistles, flashing things and all round bloat, DW is still far better....but for the love of the flying spaghetti monster, run the output through a (non DW related) code optimizer to take some of the 4GB of font-familly-not-used tags and all (I thought it was only MS orrifice that did that until I used DW).

I did say in my post up the page i intend to share any info/pics etc with NOOL,as i have done in the past.

As my site is free,i intended to show stuff like promotional items ,press releases and stuff like that,some of the stuff that the guys on here usually dont get to see,again i am more than happy to share.

The main reason for my site is to basically catalog my collection, as at present it is hard to update as my stuff is all over my house.

To be honest,it MAY not get off the ground for a while as i am very busy at the minute,and very lazy!

It also goes without saying,as far as everything New Order is concerned,this is the ONLY place to be,and always will be.

In the mean time,if there's anything you need from me then please feel free to contact me.

I do need a favour from you though,i'll drop you an email in.
