It is sad news.

I can never believe how few Bagpusses were made. It's such an important memory for loads of kids my age.

Ivor was a beautiful show. They all were.

i met bagpuss once, put my hand in his mouth. it was wiry.

oh that is really sad.

what a legacy though.

my favourite was the chocolate biscuit making machine. there was only one biscuit! those cheeky mice.

I never realised how much input he put into the making of these shows, or that he narrated them.

Don't make them like they used to.

I'm genuinely gutted about this. I rip the Engerlish all the time, but Engerland gave us Oliver Postgate and Peter Firman, a wonderful gift to humanity.

Compare the following: Clangers: "Here is the planet of the clangers, a little silver orb, hanging in the infinite firmament"

Teletubbies "la la want tubby custard"

Current kids TV: "hey wow dudes" and some explosions.

Dumbing down?

People used to call me professor yaffle like it was an insult, yek yek yek, stupid mice!

There's a lovely documentary about their work, in it Oliver describes how the BBC CENSORED the clangers!

He will be missed but Noggin and Ivor and Bagpuss and the Soup Dragon will be with us, and our offspring, forever.

And don't worry Ollie, when your old and broken body gets to the next world, a kindly girl named Emily will carry it and leave it in a shop window, near a saggy old cloth cat, and some very busy mice will begin their work on you.

In 6 years this is the first time I've cried while posting here.
