Despite the trauma beforehand - What a fantastic night, best WHP I’ve been to ever! The Horwich Order, Bonzette and friend found out the Britannia was doing rooms for £14 each, cheaper than a minibus back, so we were chuffed with that. Met up with Monty, Banshee, Alex the Red, and finally got to meet Lord and Lady Nuts. He took the piss out of my accent all night which I thought was a bit rich coming from a Yorkshire man. He wasn’t wearing tights either – he’s all mouth.

Got in quite early and the place was rocking to Jon Da Silva, followed by Mike Pickering. We were at the front all night, then at 1am when the Mondays came on it just went mad. There was a surge of people cramming in the room which meant us at the front suffered a bit. Saw a girl being lifted out crying with the crush. We managed to push our way out to a safer spot.

The Mondays did a brilliant set, with a new Rowetta. Crowd went wild to every song but especially Hallelujah, Step On and Wrote For Luck. Hooky followed with a great set including all the usual classic Hacienda tracks although we left before the end, there’s only so much dancing you can do in heels. He also played True Faith and LWTUA remixes.

Quality night. Same time next year?

That was fucking amazing.

Seen Happy Mondays a few times but nothing like how they were last night. Blew the joint to bits and I just remember getting separated from everyone in mad crushes and madness and being with a load of strangers with everyone around me being highly emotional and totally off their nuts - just completely speechless at the electric atmosphere unfolding in front of us, looking to me for answers!! If you were not there you missed out on what you would describe as one of those moments where you remember how quality it is to be alive!!! Couldn't have shared the night with any better people, Jems, Ange, D, Sarah, Alex and all those strangers i'll never see again.

Lovely to see Bansh, Monty before - if only for a brief drink. Nuts ended up looking after me at one point when things were starting to bubble into madness .

Britannia hotel is a good tip. Just don't mention you know me or Jems because at approx 4.00am we were threatened by security that we would be checked out and I was escorted from Jem's room to mine by two security plebs. Fucking wankers.

Nevertheless - enjoyed every single penny of the £14 we paid!!!!I'll be going back for the blue leather sofa!

I'm still dancing my toots off now, and shall do well into 2009.

Be happy people and a very Happy New Year to all of you.

Kinky Afro and Loose Fit as well? Sounds like the same set from the Glasgow night

I'm surprised you all loved the Mondays.

Certainly back-in-the-day they fucking rocked. But I saw them a couple of years ago doing a tune on some football programmme, and they were, to be honest, fucking terrible, the worst thing being Bez, straight, trying to still be Bez...it was embarrassing frankly.

Obviously, if they'd eaten their own body weight in pills for this gig, then they may have been good, but I just expect otherwise from them.

Not at all surprised that Jemma and Emily had to be separated though

Ems....when they escorted you out....did you have to sit in front of teacher?
