So whats your QTS number Liam? Didn't realise PGCE's could be done in a couple of weeks.

Eh?

I will say this: Considering we have been told we cannot fail the course, I may as well have a QTS number.

As for the new name, its what Mr. legge has started calling me. And considering I have to my Initial Placement at the same time as my developmental I think ican call myself that. 25 hours a week as a week on Monday apparently.

Some of us don't need to over-egg our qualifications.

Some of us are also entering their sixth straight month on the dole.

I am not remotely bitter. Oh no.

Formal qualifications are no substitute for real world experience; flair, innovation and adaptability. There are so many useless and completely one dimensional professionals such as IT consultants around the world. Take them out of their field and they are astonishingly useless in real life.

Perhaps.....but could you correct and re-install an SQL database with nothing but flair?

I think not.

But who needs SQL working properly when your computer could have flair like this:

Its not how good it works, but how good it looks that matters:nod:

Quite the opposite, I'd have thought, Kingy. I know lots of IT Consultants and most of them are the very best of blaggers. It's the nature of their job after all. Profess to know a lot about something to get a shoe-in to a company, and then gen up your entire job on google and wing it whilst charging exorbitant fees.

Now that everything goes directly into your bank account I don't even get the slight tingling in my pants that I used to when I got a giro addressed to "Dr Martin Fradley.

I quite liked being Dr Dole.

6 months? Must be at the end of the rope... being on the dole that is. Can't get much more than 6 months at least here in the States...

I think my CV's reasonably honest remarkably  minimal over-egging.

I grew up having drilled into my head that if I didn't get to university then my life would essentially be confined to a mediocre wage resulting in a shit quality of life.

Predictably - being me - I completely fucked up my Highers (A levels) due to sheer boredom and had a year or two in the wilderness with only my Standard Grades (O levels) to my name. Eventually I took an HND for two years and went into the second year of a degree course. What a wonderful 3 years of blowing my student loan and having some of the best nights out.

Also predictably, a large chunk of employers in certain sectors tend to be flatly unimpressed with degrees these days and prefer work experience which I found out the hard way. I never thought my degree would guarantee me a job but I hoped at least it would help me stand out from the crowd. It did neither and I've just resolved to get as many years working on my CV as possible.

Mind you, wouldnae doing a Medieval History or Sound Engineering related course at some point in the future purely for my own enjoyment...

"Tonmeister" from SAE if they still do it, is the de-facto qualification in sound, and one of the few accademic achievements that won't get you laughed at in the "why were you in uni when the rest of us were actually doing sound" way. Either that or blag a job at the beeb.....but Evesham is gone now I believe :(

Mate of mine had to HIDE her degree to get a job!

Which was the selfsame advice I was offered at my local Jobcentre Plus recently.....
