Is it just me, or does it now seem alien to see folk sat smoking in pubs?
i accidentally saw a bit of gavin and stacey the other night, and someone was having a pint with their fag in the pub. it did look odd. it made me really yearn for a) a fag b) a pint (and i don't even drink pints) and c) a return to a happier, more innocent, more cancer-prone time.
Two quick points:
The Smoking Ban is the best thing to happen to the United Kingdom since King Coates started redistributing his wealth in order to covertly subvert the Premiership hegemony

Thank fcuk it's not just me. I don't understand why people rave about this so much.
A sweet idea which wore itself thin by the end of the first series.
Just a load of 'luvvies' trying to be 'real people'. Smiffy has got to be the most irritating cnut on television. A drama-school dahlink thinking he's a 'lad' (why the fcuk does his voice always have to go so high-pitched to make a point?)
Only genuine 'joke' they had in the Xmas 'Special' was from a 1970's cracker - "shark-infested custard". When does irony become farce?
Only character I even remotely warmed to was Dave Coaches and he seems to be the show's villain of the piece, despite coming across as reasonably well-rounded, compared to the rest.
Also, they've made Julia Davis look a right frump in this, which ain't on. Tut tut. 
yes, G&S is shit, but embarrassingly the vile offspring really like it. and i quite fancy larry lamb.
and YES, the smoking ban - very good etc etc. but sometimes i want a cigarette in a pub and then it makes me cross. i'm self-centred like that.
